Forget Carrier and Ford. Trump just destroyed 10,000 jobs at Macy's.

http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/1/5/1617367/-Macy-s-cuts-10-000-jobs-after-Trump-demanded-boycott
http://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/04/business/macys-jobs-layoffs.html?_r=1

How many jobs won't Carrier send to Mexico?
800?
And according to Trump, Trump is to credit for that.

How many jobs won't Ford send to Mexico?
I don't know, but it's surely in the ballpark of 1000.
And according to Trump, Trump is to credit for that.

How many people is Macy's laying off due to poor sales just after Trump happened to call for a boycott of Macy's?
10,000.
Now, I'm not saying that Trump is the only one to blame here, but it would surely be odd to count the jobs his meddling "saved" and to not count the jobs his meddling "destroyed".

I will create it as soon as I get to my desk. LOL

TRUMP JOBS
Carrier +800 (Trump tweets credit)
Ford +5000 (Trump tweets credit)
Macy's -10,000 (Trump tweets "boycott!&quot

Like the fast-talking salesman he is, he's counting that nobody will DO THE MATH.

Macy's, Sears, Kmart, J.C. Penney's etc. on a politician who has not assumed office yet. It has been reported recently that 65% of Americans actively shop online. I think there will be enough legitimate areas by which to criticize Trump without stretching the limits of credulity. Thank you.

meme. I see no reason for us to do the same to our own credibility regarding Trump when we will have such a target rich environment going forward. The Amazon's of the world are kicking brick and mortar to the curb.

You know why GWB won in 2000?
You know why Trump won in 2016?
Because Republicans play dirty. Karl Rove is an asshole, but he was a master at manipulating the masses. Trump is an asshole, but he is a master at telling people whatever they want to hear at that given moment.

You are impressing nobody with your moral high ground and the Democrats aren't winning any more voters with a higher moral ground. Compared to other countries, the US is a partisan hell-hole. Compromise doesn't exist anymore. Comity doesn't exist anymore. All the goodwill and optimism towards building a better future has been replaced by constant misery and mutual hatred.
Did you know that the german parliament has its own running-gag in the form of a fictitious Representative?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakob_Maria_Mierscheid
You know things are bad when even german politicians have a larger sense of humor than the US.

What I'm trying to say is:
You won't make any friends by being the adult in the room. 9/11 and the election of a Negro for President drove the Republican Party and the republican voters into an hysterical shock. And their answer was to become more conservative, more reactionary, more hostile to anything "strange". It perfectly coincided with a decades-long campaign of demonizing Democrats and the grand finale was when "don't believe liberals", "don't believe the mainstream-media", "Citizens United" and "fake-news" merged into a steaming shitpile that used to be a democracy.

Trying to be credible means nothing when the other person on principle refuses to even consider that you aren't Satan's spawn.

Stop worrying about credibility and join the mud-fight.

Soon, trump will be president, and then "being the adult in the room" won't matter. Prepare to take all those "Thanks Obama" memes and swap out the text with "Because Trump!" It's time to forget about how we ridiculed republicans' childish behavior for the last 8 years, and emulate it, because THAT'S how we will convince people that we're right and they're wrong.

I don't think making dishonest arguments helps the cause. The almost all of people who are paying any attention to it understand why it's a dumb argument, and the people who can't tell the difference aren't really paying attention anyway.

While Trump's calls may have effected a very small group, the die was cast years ago as consumers warmed up to the internet.
