(52,231 posts)But you can refuse to treat someone who had an abortion 30 years earlier?
Do I have that right?
Also, what religion actually says not just that abortion is a sin, but that doing anything remotely civil for someone who has had an abortion is also a sin?

(4,516 posts)You just don't hear about it because those people are dead. No one stood up for them in life and no one is likely to do it after their death.

(11,686 posts)I had a topic pregnancy removed that was really damn close to bursting ( 4 months ). They were doing exploratory surgery when they found me ready to burst. Am I counted as one of those people who had an abortion?

Glad you are here, BTW. Sorry about the ectopic pregnancy/miscarriage.

(11,686 posts)It got me a partial hysterectomy which I had needed for years but I had to almost die in order to get it. Our medical system where I live is either Catholic or Seventh day Adventist so care for females is tough to get. Got better with Obama but that will soon change.

I know about those gyne-healthcare deserts where only catholic care is available.

(4,516 posts)that there is scaring around the cervix. What they can't do is tell if the procedure was an abortion or the removal of a partially miscarried fetus. Of course, now both are likely to land you in jail so it won't matter.

(33,956 posts)I've had a D&C and a few hysteroscopies. There isn't any scarring.

(4,516 posts)I am a retired RN who spent 20+ years in the OR. One of the reasons I left the medical field was because of overt discrimination. If the general public knew 1/10th of what was said about them or done to them in the OR there would be a revolt to rival the French Revolution.
I still have nightmares about a young boy with a crushed pelvis that was allowed to scream in pain while a Dr lectured him on the fact that both of his (now dead) parents were to blame and that they never loved him because they tried to kill him too (DUI car crash).
