Why REWARD Media for reporting LIES to you? Stop watching the news! (please)

Seriously folks. Our *numbers* are the only thing we have left. There. are. more. of. us. than. there. are. of. them.

Don't watch them.

Not a minute.

IGNORE them. They hate that.

1. I stopped watching

on Nov 9.

In another discussion somewhere, it was said that the Nielsen ratings and Nielsen families are no longer needed because it is possible for the cable news channels to gauge viewership in some other way. Does anyone know if that is true or false? I have been assuming it's true but if not, then we need an organized, concerted and long-lasting campaign to make sure they know they're not being watched.

2. It's true. It's how they keep track of which channels to keep paying for

and which channels are safe to dump because nobody watches them any more.

I doubt they go household by household, they just know the rough number of viewers, the channel, the time.

I'm glad there are just enough nerds out there to support the few that I bother watching. None of them are propaganda channels. We have no real news channels any more.

and tuned in to CNN very briefly when they showed live coverage of the Japanese tsunami and Japan's online streaming was overloaded.

Honestly, I can't think of a single reason to turn those blow dried corporate bobbleheads on again. They lost me.

I have DirecTV. I hope they've noticed I haven't watched a second of TV news/pundit/bullshit programming since 11/8.
