Fox is covering fireworks in Moscow (for new year's). This is so surreal at this point -- Fox

praising the fireworks display in Moscow and discussing it as the "start of 2017." It is beyond surreal at this point. Trump constantly praising Putin (while his ridiculous devotees act like he's a proud 'Murican patriot), and now Fox is heralding the glory of Moscow.

up the Trump/Russia nonsense is just scary. These idiots are the hypocrites who screamed about every politician who dared not to wear a flag pin after 9/11 etc etc etc -- and here they are happily gobbling stories about Trump, Putin, and f-King Moscow fireworks.

Current Republicans are a far cry from yesteryear's anti-Communist Republicans. They see Putin as a strong and patriotic leader, and they feel he is a stark contrast to the "weak" leadership of President Obama. Thirty years ago, praising Russia would have been inconceivable; these days, praising Russia is part of "making America great again" for Republicans, because they think Putin made Russia great again.

you're trying to apply logic where there is none. If Reagan or even Bush were still around, Putin and Russia wouldn't be anywhere near as popular among Republicans as they are now. Republican love for Russia has less to do with Putin and more with their hatred for President Obama.

They continue to think President Obama is trying to undermine the United States. Remember, enough of them still believe that he's a Kenyan-born Muslim. Putin's appeal is that he is the anti-Obama. In Republican eyes, Putin is a strong leader and loves his country whereas President Obama is weak and hates America.

Of course those beliefs are not rooted in reality, but then again, Republicans just elected a President who spends most of his time in an alternate universe.

His supporters must spend most of their time there, too.

You are right about my brain not working the same way theirs do. Willing suspension of disbelief is fine for reading novels or going to the movies, and can be fun in those settings, but it is a pathetic way to go thru life in the real world. I am not capable of disregarding my intellect.

Ignorance thru lack of exposure to known information is understandable. Wilfull ignorance in the face of facts is maddening. When coupled with arrogance is dangerous.

So now, out of the blue, Trump wants to make friends with Russia, and start a pissing contest with China instead.

Why?
The PUNDITS are apparently baffled by this, but WE'RE not. It's obvious! Russians are white, and Chinese are not. If you see the world that way, it's easy to divide it up into who are our friends and who are our enemies.

which countries should be U.S. allies, and which countries should be U.S. enemies. White vs. non-white. Russia's in, China and Mexico are out. Closer trade relations with Britain; and Japan and South Korea can pay for their own damned defence on their own.

worry would end up murdering hundreds of millions in the Soviet bloc countries, and destroying ourselves also.

There is no intellectual underpinning to their ideology. They're lead all over by all those feelings in the gut W was always consulting instead of reading for new information. This time the overriding mindless hunger, beyond the usual need to oppose Democrats, is for authoritarian nationalist leadership.

phony baloney conservative patriotism included. Keep in mind these frauds only love a tiny sliver of this country; the rest they absolutely despise.

As far as Fox & the Deplorables are concerned, Trump could dress like Stalin and celebrate May Day every year provided he deports the Mexicans, bans the Muslims, and brings law order to African-American communities.

A large part of our country will accept whatever "daddy" says - without reservation. Trump could get us to invade Uruguay in two days if he chose to do so, and Fox Noise and the authoritarians would celebrate the bombing of Montevideo.

Watched the bombing of Baghdad and the cheers that followed, the BS surge which gave us ISIS or al qaeda 3.0, and clearly saw how people and fools can be led by "strong" leaders and a compliant press.

You cannot use logic to argue with illogical people.

He is smart enough to skew the election so that a weak, narcissistic, reactionary and dimwitted person could be the leader of the free world.

"Build a wall, Muslin registry, look at me I create jobs, my enemies are losers, I won so let's move on", all this bullshit will continue for the next four years and all the while Putin will be gaining an edge, little by little. If any of my angry white brethren think Putin has changed his tune since his USSR/KGB days there is no limit to how fucking stupid you can get.
