It is just amazing the degree to which many Republicans are trying to dismiss Russian efforts to effect the U.S. election even to the point of expressing admiration for Putin.

Im an American and I listen to that, I hear foreign actor hacked into political organizations in the U.S. and they strategically leaked it out during an election campaign, he said. Whether thats Republican or Democrat or any other party, that sounds serious. Are you saying, heck its another part of the Wild West in the cyber space and we as a country should let that pass?'
Hoekstra said he doesnt think it should pass but he was dismissive because the U.S. hacked Angela Merkel and listened to conversations.
Sciutto was shocked to hear a former Republican Congressman say that these actions were acceptable because the U.S. had hacked someone before.
But leak those conversations every day leading up to a crucial German election? Sciutto asked. This is the difference here. Its odd for an American to be equating its own actions with the actions of a foreign adversary.

We as patriots must deal with this head on.

(269,015 posts)Even media hacks do it and blue dog Dems as well - the party hierarchy is responsible for that. You'd be kicked out of most parties for getting the party name wrong.

To me every time a republican (because of that I never capitalize it and even refer to them as the republic party sometimes!) says that it brings back thoughts of how destructive McCarthy and his cronies were back then. Here's an interesting article on the reference:
