Announcement: I plan to start a thread at 5:55 AM Pacific time Saturday morning...

...which will be five minutes to midnight, Guam time...the first place in this country where 2017 will strike.

When the New Year arrives in your time zone wherever you are in the world, please check in on that thread...that way, we'll all be able to let each other know the moment each of us HAS SURVIVED 2016.

This is intended to boost collective morale and remind each of us that we are not alone in the years of resistance to come.

And even AT parties, a lot of folks spend half the time on their freaking iDrones or whatever they call those newfangled things.

I do my annual New Year's Midnight "hike" with a few friends & dogs (and a small flask or two of wine) on local bike trails. It lets me "walk off the accumulated stress", while starting the new year off right. Should be Colorado cold, but clear.

I was in Guam several years ago. Beware the brown tree snakes...
