if you want to make a cheery seasonal greeting to someone who's:

christian/not christian
jewish/not jewish/
etc.

... you say ...

"season's greetings!"

because honestly, if you don't know for sure what holiday the person you're greeting celebrates and you use a greeting that's appropriate for your traditions, not theirs, then it's not the person you're well-wishing who's broken, it's you.

if someone gives me a holiday greeting like this, i do indeed say "you too!" but been wished merry christmas many times by people who know full well that i'm jewish, or who know full well that at least some of the people they're greeting are jewish, etc.

you know, foxnews-viewers who give that cheer with an agenda.

Blinded by the brainwashing to the extent of a world domination megalomania, matter of factly.
My father passed on so consumed by a hateful, Alzheimer's fueled "We will rise again" mentality.
He worshipped at the altar of Bill O'Really nightly to his grave.
He taught me through sheer abhorrent conditioning not to be racist, xenophobic, homophobic, misogynist.
He was the most blatant of all of these second only to Fred Phelps.
It shocks me, frankly, exactly which part of forcing one's perspective on all isn't perceived by the fox noise ilk as self righteous.

I can't dismiss that feeling, having never walked in their shoes. I could see though how it might be like wishing Native Americans Happy Columbus Day. You don't hear devout Muslims wishing non-believers Happy Ramadan? Why should Christmas be any different?

that sums it up. It is not the words that bother them per se. It's the perceived lack of Christian complete domination.
