(50,302 posts)Rachel did a good job, but you'll never, ever get a straight answer out of the Trump mouthpieces. Just yesterday I heard 2 different interpretations of the "nuke" tweets. We're in big, big trouble.

(6,457 posts)I won't watch Rachel if she has anymore Trumpasses on her show

(50,302 posts)She's the only one who has the gumption to ask the questions we really want answers to . . . even if she gets blown off. I wish I could feed her a couple of questions in case she does another interview.

(58,724 posts)I think it is better to be informed about what these people are saying - especially when they are being interviewed by people like Maddow who will challenge them.

(5,106 posts)We don't have enough chances (including the Sunday shows) to see the Trumpists and right-wingers challenged. Rachael was polite, but relentless (if not as much as we might wish). I won't watch Kellyanne on Sunday, and never on Fox predictable stuff. It's always good to keep up with the propaganda coming from the other side, however. Forewarned is forearmed.

(9,967 posts)destroyed Conaway, but the comments from republicans say that conaway made Rachel "look like a fool" and that Conaway was a class act' (yuck). There's no hope with those people

(5,106 posts)and never really answering the questions. Rachel just kept after her until it was obvious that she'd never wear Conway down and away from her talking points. Conway is disgusting but brilliant. Anyone without a solid background in critical thinking will just get worn down or give up and accept her shit.

(60,010 posts)I got the show via YouTube, which I downloaded, and watched a couple of times, because it is important to know thy enemy.
What I saw was a very rehearsed, smart woman, who may or may not believe the BS she was spouting, but who knows exactly how to stroke Trump's ego, and who also knew exactly how to obtain the position of his "councilor"
Rachel made her usual excellent points, and Conway pivoted as needed, but never seem to unflap.
Conway makes a good Goebbels.
The talking points about Trump being "unique" and rules not applying to him was trotted out as necessary and seems to be a Republican mantra, since we are hearing McConnell saying teh same thing.
I can't tell if Trump's camp really does not understand ethics, or just does not care.
The good news is, as he complained in a tweet yesterday, he and cohorts ARE responding to pushback about the family grifting attempts so far.

(733 posts)When we know what the interviewee is like, you can tailor your interview to her. In this case we know the Conway will:
a. Produce lie after lie and refuse any evidence to the contrary
b. Answer questions about Trump and policy by talking about how wonderful, serious, thoughtful and knowledgeable Trump is.
c. Compare any criticism of Trump by citing Hillary's many supposed crimes.
You can't argue with someone who won't admit facts.
The way to interview Conway is to "find out about the woman behind the mouth". By asking questions about how she got her career, her job and her promotion, you can delve into the minutia such as, how does you day go, do you talk to Trump, do you have staff meetings, how do you the message to the staff. It is possible to get more information about the Trump travesty and even some dropped info that could be damaging.
When Conway starts talking about Trump or policy, explain to her that we have all heard what her views are on the topic and want to go on to something new.

(5,106 posts)If Rachel ever got another shot at Conway she probably would go in that direction, but we all know that will probably never happen unless Conway gets carried away with her "success" and starts a challenge with Rachel. Few Republicans will face off with Maddow, but Conway might just be confident enough in her admitted ability to obfuscate to be drawn in. That would be great to watch on a continuing basis. Lawrence O'Donnell might be able to handle her in his calm way (have they faced up?): I'm not sure if they have.

(269,157 posts)false attacks on the President of the United States and indeed Hillary clinton. If it's OK for the Trump 'cons' to sue for defamation, there's a case against said family leader

Ugh. I can't stomach watching the whole thing. Rachel is still treating her with white gloves. Makes me sick. And people say Kelly Anne is so great. Bleh...

(22,913 posts)Unfortunately they are both highly skilled at what they do. In Rachel's case, I am almost always glad of that, in Conway's case, never. I think Rachel did well, but Conway is unusually skilled for her side at thinking on her feet and weaving her talking points carefully into a response, rather than simply robotically repeating them. She is dangerous.

(60,010 posts)I am hearing people saying they will not pay attention to anything the Repubs/trump/Kelly do or say, and that is a huge mistake.
"know they enemy" is still an important truism.
Conway appears to be very clever, maybe even more so than Trump's other voices in his ear.

(297,528 posts)know that my life will be perfectly fine, in fact much better, for not having watched con-way shovel shite on Rachel's show.
There needs to be someway for her to be called out on her dumbing down of the Americans she's brainwashing.
Anybody have the guts?

(13,186 posts)I actually don't think (the wonderful) Maddow is a match for Conway. Conway is the best at what she does, largely because no one any good would do what she does.
Maddow's problem is that her platform isn't as strong as Conway's. Dems and the liberal side of the argument in general don't have a rhetorical platform. We think merely being right matters.

(1,629 posts)But she's overrated. If all one can do is spin, lie, and deflect... it hardly makes them a substantive spokesperson.
