The Truman quote reminds me of a little creep I had to deal with on another forum at another web-site. The little creep (euphemism) was left free by the absent board moderators to do just about whatever he wanted. I'm reminded of the time he claimed that H.L. Mencken, a noted thinking conservative was a (gay) because I quoted Mencken in response to one of his vicious, unthinking posts. I dared him to share his "insight" about Mencken his right-wing mentors at his school--not out of the goodness of my heart on my part, but so the little cherub could blow his chance to matriculate even to a middling-poor quality cow college in the back of beyond.

I hope he took my dare and followed through.

"The modern conservative is engaged in one of mankind's oldest exercises in moral philosophy, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

Harry Truman also had a great one about Nixon that is equally applicable to Rmoney:

"Richard Nixon is a no-good lying bastard. He can lie out of both sides of his mouth at the same time, and if he ever caught himself telling the truth, he'd lie just to keep his hand in."

Ironically, the UK Conservatives in the mid-1800s were the one's who supported social welfare, while the Liberals opposed it.
