Hoyer: Republicans Will Sink America To Drown Obama
Brian Beutler - June 21, 2012, 1:20 PM
TPM

Add House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) to the list of high profile Democrats who are publicly accusing Republicans of intentionally undermining the economy in order to defeat President Obama.

“There’s no intention on behalf of the Republicans in the House of Representatives to try to help the president move this country forward,” Hoyer told a small group of reporters in his Capitol office on Thursday morning. “I quote Jesse Jackson, who I thought said it best, there are a lot people in Washington who want to drown the captain and are prepared to sink the ship in order to do so.”

It is funny that they aren't lazy, but hard at work making new inroads into cruel and unusual ways of corrupting the process so they can say it doesn't work.

But it's also sad.

This WAS MY country too, but the way they are shitting on it and ripping it apart it makes me want to cry.

Around here, all the Republican candidates do is slam government, proclaim that it has little or no value in our lives, and if elected, they will do everything to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Let's say you run a business and was interviewing candidates for a job opening in said business. If one of the candidates said in the interview that he or she doesn't believe in your business; it's inherently bad; and if hired, he/she would do everything to make your business run less effectively, would you hire that person?

It's the same thing with electing Republicans for office. They get voted in, do nothing, then go campaigning around the country with their dog-and-pony show, telling everyone how poorly run government is. Most of the people I refer to have lived off the taxpayer's dime their entire professional lives. Hypocrites!

They all want a Republican in office...so they are deliberately not hiring. When and if Romney gets in...watch all the hiring! Then they'll say see how successful Romney's policies are in improving unemployment...let's cut some more and give more tax cuts to the job creators. It's so transparent and make me sick!

TREASON - to obstruct their Commander-in-Chief during wartime. This IS what they're doing. They're obstructing the President, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief whether they like it or not, during a time of war, which we very definitely ARE in.

This should be brought to their attention. They're playing hardball. Obama has it within his Presidential powers to play HARDER ball. And that will be the only thing they respect. Grudgingly, all the way, of course.

That our leaders should be saying...it is over the top some but not that much...while on the other hand the GOP goes way over the top and has no truth at all in it...and they don't shy away from it they embrace it...and the tea party LOVES them for it
But the DLC wants to play nice and are afraid someone will say something bad about them ...
I say fuck it....go for the juggler...and repeat it just as often as they will tell you Obama is a communist.
Fascist Romney....Romney is a Fascist....Romney palls around with Fascist....I think there are 81 card carrying Fascist in the Tea Party Caucus.

Now Obama administration cannot say these things but they have people that can...and they should.

"I could have had kkkarl rove arrested but I didn't."

BUT YOU DIDN'T!?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE HELL???????

Opportunities like that don't just fall in your lap every other day when the clock strikes 2pm.

I still remember one moment when the GOP members in the House got up and walked out, en masse, in protest of something or other that the Dem leadership did to get their panties in a bunch and their noses out of joint.

I yearned for Nancy or some Dem to seize the gavel, wait til the last of the enemy combatants left the room (and that IS how they should be viewed, and dealt with), and then stepped to the podium and directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to lock the doors. And after that was done, direct the rest of the House to come to order and "let's get some work done, folks." Lock the fuckers out. They of course ran straight to the camera crews that I'm sure had been tipped off by a well-coordinated GOP media stunt crew. The would have realized soon enough that they'd been locked out - the folks inside had shrewdly called their bluff. And once inside, the remaining Dems should have declared they had a quorum and proceeded to vote on, and pass, the legislation the bad guys had been obstructing.

STERLING opportunity to kick the enemy in the teeth and shame them in public and run over them and their egos and their stupid second-grade stunts with tractors. But of course they let 'em slide. BLEW the moment completely. 'Cause we had to take the "high road," you see. And in politics, as our side never seems to learn or understand, the high road leads you straight over a cliff.

Hoyer is quoting Jesse Jackson, saying that "there are a lot people in Washington who want to drown the captain and are prepared to sink the ship in order to do so.”

BUT the TPM Headline names the ship AND the insaniacs doing their level best to keep Obama from a second term in office.

Republicans Will Sink America To Drown Obama (Ya' know when you say it like that, the way they act makes sense.)

I think this is our new catch phrase to really drive the point home that the rethugs care NOTHING about America, only getting re-elected and tossing DEMs aside like so much dead weight.

Rethugs are NOT the people you want at the helm when disaster is looming or happening. "Women? Children? Toss them out first. Well, toss them out second anyway and see who can swim to the life boats. We tossed those first."

If you search "Bill Maher" I think it will come up here in video form. EJ Dionne is one of the other guests. The video itself should be an Obama campaingn ad hands down!!! If you can't find the segment here, just ask someone who has seen it.

The proper time to start yelling and maintain the yelling about this was when the Rethugs refused to raise the debt ceiling. Now, it may just look like posturing, on the Dems part, as the election season gears up.

out of office. We have know that for quite some time. My question is, where the Hell are all the Democrats? Where are their loud voices opposing all the shit that is going on with the GOP. They should have been out there long ago fighting and opposing what the Re-thugs have been doing.

Good O' Bernie Sanders and Dennis Kucinich seem to be the most visible Dems around. Today, finally, Pelosi decides to speak up. Where is the outrage in the Democrats that are supposed to represent us.

There might be a saving grace with so many greenbacks in foreign hands and the other smaller companies trying to get ahead while the bigger ones try to sit on the sideline and could care less about the 'get Obama out' ideas. I also see corporate media trying to talk down the economy but it still looks like it's picking up speed. As the old proverb goes, 'so much for plans of mice and men'
