In a video released this morning, a bandaged George Zimmerman re-enacted for police what he said happened the night he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
He fired a single shot, he said, after the teenager had repeatedly banged Zimmerman's head on a sidewalk with such force, "I felt like my head was going to explode" and he feared he would lose consciousness.

What a piss-poor choice of words. Then again, I would expect nothing less from this racist, lying piece of shit.
Seriously, after what we've seen with him and his wife flat-out lying directly to the judge, why would anyone believe ANYTHING this asshole says?

(14,887 posts)Ed" Rachel? Fugelstang? Don't remember but it reminded me of a little kid trying to tell a story of explanation to an adult w/ embellishments as they popped into his head. The final outcome so I shot him in the chest was completely devoid of emotion. This guy should have been babbling, scared, frightened but he was calm and matter of fact about the entire episode. It was eerie and unsettling.
No wonder the prosecutor or lead investigating officer wanted him arrested.

(34,406 posts)If he had a head injury like that, the EMTs would have insisted he go to the hospital as a precaution. At the slightest hint of a head or neck injury, the patient is immobilized on a board and their neck put in a brace to prevent further injury. They are also closely observed in case of a concussion. Zimmerman had none of that done for him.

(192 posts)You're incorrect about EMTs. They may have assumed he didn't have health insurance given his race. When I was hit by a car 23 months ago, the EMTs that responded tried to talk me out of going to the hospital. After I lied and said I had health insurance, they gave me a ride.
obamanut2012
(26,081 posts)That statement is... interesting.
Also, the EMTs don't CARE if you have health insurance.

No what I want to see is the AMA.
By the way your EMT crew also opened itself for a major malpractice lawsuit.
When I was one I spent over an hour talking an American patient into the ride, which was good, he had a neck fracture.

(192 posts)They need to ask so they know where to take you. For example, when my boss had a heart attack, the EMTs asked our HR director about our insurance so they would know where to take him. We had Regence which has a better relationship with some local hospitals versus others so they took him to the place that would cost him much less. Also, when I was hit the EMTs asked about my financial situation because they thought I should go to a private clinic called Virginia Mason which would have been cheaper than a real hospital. Since I hit my head I wanted to go to a real hospital. Are the EMTs in your area so callous that they just send people to the wrong facility? Or, do you live in the middle of nowhere where this is only once choice?
obamanut2012
(26,081 posts)False.
gregoire
(192 posts)if I was going to the cheaper private clinic. They couldn't transport me there. It wasn't their fault. It was the fault of the policies of the city where it happened.

(2,833 posts)So in your first iteration of the tale, the EMTs encouraged you to go to Virginia Mason, but you wanted to go to a real hospital.
But now you are saying that, had you taken the advice of the EMTs, they would not have been able to transport you to the place they said you should go
Cruel tricksters, those Seattle EMTs.

(16,399 posts)I've worked security at a large office building and deal with 911 calls for employees all the time. The EMTs never ask about insurance, only the patient's preference of hospital, as long as it is in the area.
uppityperson
(115,677 posts)It has a great emergency room part as well as several specialties.
As far as EMT's asking where you wanted to go? If it is life threatening they take you to the nearest facility that can handle your problem. If not life threatening, they ask if you have a preference. They don't have the knowledge of which facility might contract with which insurance, that isn't their specialty. They will ask if YOU have a preference, or if your boss does, if they have time, but no. They won't take you somewhere they think pays better via insurance as that is NOT their specialty. They will take you where you want to go if the issue isn't life threatening.
Good grief. And here. Educate yourself about what Virginia Mason offers. "private clinic ...real hospital".

(192 posts)I was closed to the one on NE 2nd, and I don't think it even has a place for an ambulance to drop you off. Also, feel free to call the city of Kirkland to ask if they'll transport to that location, which is the closet VM to them. I'm sure they'll confirm their policy.
Are you going to apologize now?
uppityperson
(115,677 posts)Let's start over.
You: When I was hit by a car 23 months ago, the EMTs that responded tried to talk me out of going to the hospital. After I lied and said I had health insurance, they gave me a ride.
You: They need to ask so they know where to take you..... Also, when I was hit the EMTs asked about my financial situation because they thought I should go to a private clinic called Virginia Mason which would have been cheaper than a real hospital. Since I hit my head I wanted to go to a real hospital.
You: They did refuse if I was going to the cheaper private clinic. They couldn't transport me there. It wasn't their fault. It was the fault of the policies of the city where it happened.
So, bull puckey. First you say the EMT's tried to talk you out of going to the hospital, then you say they wanted you to go to a clinic, then you say they refused to transport you to the clinic. You say you wanted to go to a "real" hospital, not Virginia Mason which is a "real" hospital.
EMT's transport to the nearest facility that can handle your situation, nearest emergency room. They can and do ask if you have preference if there is time to do that. They don't "try and talk you out of going to the hospital". And wtf is the deal with they wanted you to go to a clinic and then refused to take you? Bull. Puckey. If you refused to go to the hospital, then you refused transportation. You are right that they don't give rides to clinics. They also don't give rides to restaurants. And they don't try and talk you out of going to the hospital because you don't have insurance.
Why would you think you are owed an apology? Educate yourself.

(904 posts)When I was in a car accident EMT's never asked about insurance, just asked me if I had a preference for what hosp. I'd like to be taken too. Many times during my Mom's life she needed to be transported by ambulance to the hosp. and never did they ask about insurance either, just what hosp. she wanted to go to. I couldn't imagine an EMT refusing to transport someone if they were asked about insurance and said they don't have any.
The fuck?

(59 posts)#1 If both of Martin's hands are on the front of his face, (according to Zim, one hand covered his mouth, the other covered his nose) how can he scream "help" so audibly that numerous witnesses heard it???
#2 If his hands are on the front of his face where his nose and mouth is, how could he bash his head into the sidewalk numerous times???
If he said his hands were on the side of his head, by his ears for example, i could see it...
But if his hands were on the front of his face, (as Zim claims) he must have had a helluva grip to bash his head on the ground...
Zim must of help him raise his head off the ground for him to "repeatedly" bash it into the ground...
Try it yourself, then reply...

(39,961 posts)That tells me all that I need to know. He feels justified in ending another human being's life with no remorse whatsoever. That isn't a man that acted in self-defense - people that act in self-defense generally feel badly that they killed another person. He's fine with the fact that he killed another person.
That tells me all that I need to know about him and his lack of character.
