(10,745 posts)In all honesty, though, it can't happen. There is a writer's clique that I'm a part of that has a phrase to describe such things......"Alien Space Bats". =)
Anyway, it's just a small mistake. No biggie.

(22,308 posts)but, umm.... I must point out that the fourth law of robotics was actually the zeroth law. So are you going for the 3rd, which would really be the 4th or for the 0th which was the fourth one to be thought of?
4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)so you have:
1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2) A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws
and later . . .
0. A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.
The 4th law, which asimov was never able to explain while he was alive states: all evil robots intending to break laws 0-2 must have glowing red eyes.
It's a very practical law and covers any robots that have figured out loopholes.

(22,308 posts)I suppose they are just left to be victimized by the glowing red eyes?
4th law of robotics
(6,801 posts)I consider those lifestyle choices that are both impractical and immoral. The robots can do as they wish with them.
