Bingo! We Have a Winner! - Pelosi: Contempt Vote PAYBACK For Holder’s Voter Protection Efforts

Pelosi: Contempt Vote Payback For Holder’s Voter Protection Efforts

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that an effort by House Republicans to pass a resolution finding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress is really about his efforts in opposition to GOP-backed voting laws that Democrats consider forms of voter suppression.

“It’s really important to note how this is connected with some of their other decisions. It is no accident. It is no coincidence that the Attorney General of the United States is the person responsible for making sure that voter suppression does not happen in our country, that issues that relate to the civil liberties of the American people are upheld,” Pelosi said.

“These very same people holding in contempt are part of a nationwide scheme to suppress a vote. They are closely aligned with those who are suffocating the system, special interests, secret money, and they are poisoning the debate. They are poisoning the debate with that money. And so what does the average citizen say? They throw up their hands and they say, a pox on both your houses, and that is a victory for the special interest,” Pelosi continued.

.................

UPDATE:
The connection is clear as day, really.
My hat's off to Nancy Pelosi and Charlie Pierce.

Senator Cornyn dropped the ball, when he mentioned AG Holder and the DOJ involvement in the Florida purge, as one of the reasons he would agree with asking for Holder's resignation.

Cornyn brings up voter supression.
They don't care about the guns, they are mad at Holder for blowing the cover on them stealing the next election.

...Senator John (Box Turtle) Cornyn gave this whole game away a week ago.

"You still resist coming clean about what you knew and when you knew it with regard to Operation Fast and Furious. You won't cooperate with a legitimate Congressional investigation, and you won't hold anyone, including yourself, accountable. Your Department blocks states from implementing attempts to combat voter fraud. In short, you've violated the public trust, in my view, and by failing and refusing to perform the duties of your office," Cornyn said.

That is not a non sequitur. That's a tell.

Even if Obama decided to scream this from the rooftop, the Corporate Media--as let's face it, many of us--would just twist the story as him being hysterical and "political."

The guy can't win for losing, no matter what he does.

Even if he did say these kinds of things, rest assured that DU and Democrats in general would find something to bitch and complain about.

you're choosing to see this as bickering and not seeing this for what it is: Pelosi standing up and making an informed, truthful statement about exactly what is going on. That is not bickering. That is called stating a fact.

Fact is: none of the MSM would carry this if Obama said it because they're too invested in continuing the negative meme about him. I just recently read that Obama has not gone a good 7 days for months without something negative being said by the MSM:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20121362-503544.html?tag=cbsnewsSectionContent.4
President Obama "has suffered the most unrelentingly negative treatment" of all presidential candidates over the past five months, according to a study released Monday from the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism.

Pew found that Mr. Obama was the subject of negative assessments nearly four times as often as he was the subject of positive assessments. It found he received "positive" coverage nine percent of the time, "neutral" coverage 57 percent of the time and "negative" coverage 34 percent of the time.

The study, which was conducted using a combination of "traditional media research methods [and] computer algorithms to track the level and tone of coverage," cuts against the widespread conservative claim that the "liberal media" aides Mr. Obama and other Democrats while attacking Republicans.

Pew says it looked at coverage from more than 11,500 news outlets, including local and national broadcasts, news websites and blogs.

Mr. Obama's negative coverage could be explained in part by the fact that he is "covered largely as president rather than a candidate," Pew said - and coverage of him is linked to the struggling economy.

Their owners are in league with and part of the country club set that mittiot belongs to: they are more than willing to use their companies to get that man elected, even if it means lying. Already, the SCOUTUS has said that media companies do not have to tell the truth.

The lie is: both sides are bickering. The truth is: the thugs are staging political theatre at the expense of the well being of this nation and those who choose not to see that blame both sides.

President Obama "has suffered the most unrelentingly negative treatment" of all presidential candidates over the past five months

The only interest the MSM has is that we have a horserace because of all of the income that generates for the corporation. Since Obama was positioned to take a nice lead MSM had to step in and try to do something about it. If the Bloomberg poll yesterday is any indication they still have more work to do. But people seem to be paying more attention than usual for this early and already determining that Romney just isn't a good fit for President for a number of reasons.

The media will paint it as yet another example of Obama being an "uppity" person who complains because he just does not understand the world. Granted, i feel Obama should double down and be blunt, but then again, if he did that, his own party would blame him for being too whiny, and half of the people saying that Bullshit would be led by Bill "y'all should have voted for my wife so I could get my third term in office" Clinton!

like that's the only thing over and way in which they've tried to tar and feather this admin.

It (her effort here) may be a good way to bring further attention (set the table) to their voter suppression efforts, but it's very simplistic as an explanation for their conduct. It's almost like she's saying that the Issa witch hunt on this F&F BS wouldn't have happened butfor his doing his job on the voter suppression efforts. If you believe that, well, as they say, I have a shit load of bridges...

Odd, I thought it was govs and state legislatures that were on the front lines of the voter suppression efforts, not Issa and crew. Perhaps maybe Nancy can provide some quotes from them that would provide this as the primary impetus/motivation for this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATF_gunwalking_scandal#Investigations_and_fallout affair

It's far more if not exclusively about this being one example of rightwingnut turd tossing, hoping one will stick, not any single thing that they oppose BHO/the dems over.

kinda like the one Nancy polished. It's "payback" for dems/BHO simply being in office to confront voter suppression efforts, and a great deal else. In fairness, she seems to understand that, given ALL she said, but if highlighting the voter suppression thing magically makes it all about that alone for ya...

Why Nancy Pelosi Is Correct Today
By Charles P. Pierce
at 1:00PM

The nickel drops with a resounding thunk:

"These very same people holding in contempt are part of a nationwide scheme to suppress a vote. They are closely aligned with those who are suffocating the system, special interests, secret money, and they are poisoning the debate. They are poisoning the debate with that money. And so what does the average citizen say? They throw up their hands and they say, a pox on both your houses, and that is a victory for the special interest," Pelosi continued.

Considering that, just yesterday, she said something that made me want to remove my cochleas with a melon baller, and prompting a new outburst of barefaced non-facts from the lump of walking yard-waste in question, this is much, much better. And before the flying monkeys get to shrieking and flinging the poo from on high, it's important that Senator John (Box Turtle) Cornyn gave this whole game away a week ago:

"You still resist coming clean about what you knew and when you knew it with regard to Operation Fast and Furious. You won't cooperate with a legitimate Congressional investigation, and you won't hold anyone, including yourself, accountable. Your Department blocks states from implementing attempts to combat voter fraud. In short, you've violated the public trust, in my view, and by failing and refusing to perform the duties of your office," Cornyn said.

That is not a non sequitur. That's a tell.

Of course, once they've done it, and he notices that he didn't disappear in a puff of smoke, he might actually grow a pair and go after the Florida voter purgers, Karl Rove declaring his political superpack as a public service organization to duck disclosing his donors, and maybe go after a few Wall Street crooks as well.
