The Romney campaign held a meeting at a racy Arizona night club that boasts a "specialty champagne bar in the co-ed bathroom," according to the campaigns latest filing with the Federal Elections Commission.
The filing indicates the campaign spent $385.24 to "The Mint Restaurant and Ultra Lounge" in Scottsdale, Arizona for a meeting expense.
According to the website of the establishment, "The Mint" specializes in making "all types of events imaginable" which include models, dancers, and showgirls along with body painting in a nightclub that calls itself "half restaurant" and "half ultra-lounge."
The club also offers a "specialty champagne bar in the co-ed bathroom." In the marble unisex bathroom, a bartender makes drinks while patrons take "socializing in the bathroom to a new level" according to one review of the club.

(2,322 posts)Whatever "The Mint" specializes in, $384.24 isn't going to buy anything more than the food and drink in the restaurant--and at that price, those at the meeting probably didn't even have wine or beer or cocktails! Honestly, to make this a scandal, the bill would have to have been at least five times that amount--implying that those other specialties came into play.
At $384.24 the meeting either did without the specials, left meeting members to pay for such themselves (still no scandal), or Scottsdale has some rock-bottom prices for such things and is going to be inundated with business meetings wanting to take advantage of their amazing deals.

(84 posts)Carol Ann Doda was an American cultural icon of the 1960s and a topless stripper at the Condor Club, at the corner of Broadway and Columbus in the North Beach section in San Francisco, California in the 1960s through 1980s. In 1964 Doda made international news, first by dancing topless at the city's Condor Club, then by enhancing her bust from size 34 to 44 through silicone injections. Her breasts became known as Doda's "twin 44s" and "the new Twin Peaks of San Francisco." When the Republican National Convention was held in San Francisco to nominate Barry Goldwater during the summer of 1964, uber-right wing (John Birch Society variation) delegates swarmed North Beach to see Carol Doda.
Admittedly although definitely NOT a Republican (the Democrats convened in San Francisco in 1984) I, too, loved Carol Doda and her show and her gentle, spontaneous use of humor. Rest assured that (a) I was not a delegate in 1984 (so my visit to the Condor Club should not embarrass the Democrats) and (b) I only went to try to figure out what drew the righty Republicans in droves.*
*As to (b), something harkens the old notion that Democrats sneak pornography home and watch it in private after dark, while Republicans form Committees and watch it as a group.
