She got scared in October and no trial. Death threats. Lisa Bloom could not calm her. She ran.

I bet that's what happened.

20. Do you suppose Bloom got 45% or did she discount

The customary 30-45% here would need to be spit three ways, since Bloom, Meagher and Mason aren't in the same firm (or indeed the same state).

Bloom would, of course, have advised her client on how much this case was worth. How much bank do you suppose Bloom made?

6. There was never a trial scheduled in the first place
Wed Dec 14, 2016, 09:49 PM
Dec 2016

The suit was withdrawn on November 4.

The only thing which ever happened is that it was filed - as anything can be filed with a court for $350 - and was never served on the defendant.

When a suit is filed, the court will automatically schedule a status conference date to find out (a) if it has been served and (b) if so, what sort of schedule the parties want to follow for the rest of the proceeding.

Because people are generally ignorant of how courts work, the perfunctory mechanics of the initial conference date got blown up into "RAPE TRIAL BEGINS IN DECEMBER" by people who either didn't know any better or were interested in deliberately misleading others into believing there was some sort of trial which was supposed to occur.

Somehow no one pays attention.

But thanks anyway.

I remember when you broke it down in a very understandable way a couple months ago.

the election suddenly made DT amenable to an out of court settlement.

We will never know, but the timing was very interesting to me.

I'm sure that if one is certain of the underlying truth, then circumstances suggesting otherwise have an explanation.

The statute of limitations ended more than a decade ago. Kid became an adult in 1998, and NY has a five-year SoL on torts.

Not sure if there's a statute of limitations on that.

Anyways it was dropped before the election.
