He's telling Piers he don't like Ler-Obama-man because there's no "MORAL COMPASS" there. I hate your guts you moral-compass-Smashing-Pumpkin-ASSHOLE.

(15,189 posts)Piers has an Obama hater on. Shocked I tell ya. Smashing Pumpkins is a one hit wonder band. Just like REM saying The Beatles music is elevator music. REM sucks as much as Smashing Pumpkins. Both bands will never be remembered 50 years from now.

(26,877 posts)Smashing Pumpkins was the most prolific and important band of the '90's. Not even close to being a one-hit wonder.
Stipe was talking out of his ass (re: Beatles) but he admitted doing so shortly after Kurt C died. He developed a respect for the Beatles through Kurt.

(29,674 posts)Stipe has said that he really wanted to work with Kurt but it just didn't happen.
I wouldn't call them the most important band of the 90's but they did have a number of songs.

(21,691 posts)Not that he isn't an ass, but just that one album had more than one hit.
And him being an ass won't keep me from still liking Zero.

(61,935 posts)Yes they will be. The current crop of small children born to people in their 30s will remember that their parents had both REM and Smashing Pumpkins in their collections.

(9,933 posts)He's fond of conspiracy theories, lyndon larouche and angry twitter tirades about ex girl friends. One of my hubby's good friends from grad school used to play drums for the Smashing Pumpkins. (they've had several over the years.) He said Corigan was an impossible control freak. But yeah....he's not known for being very stable. Why would he be discussing politics on Piers Morgan? He's a musician who is past his prime.
Love 1979 though. Now I'm gonna go listen to it

"To coincide with the release of Oceania the upcoming studio album from the latest iteration of the Smashing Pumpkins (now featuring the girl from the cover of Siamese Dream!) frontman Billy Corgan decided to drum up some publicity by picking a fight with Radiohead.
Speaking with Antiquiet, the aging rocker, who readily admits to having a "need for attention, and ego gratification," said he'll happily "piss" on Radiohead "because of all this pomposity."

(15,384 posts)I know I have it on an old video tape. Comedy Central in the 90s did these commercials with comedians talking to kids. The humor was the kids didn't know what the hell the comedians were talking about, but the tagline was, "Don't take comedy from strangers." Janeane Garofalo did one where she was warning the little girls about Billy Corgan for some reason, showing them pictures of him (some of them made appropriate "ick" faces). It ended with one little girl going, "I think he's cute," and Janeane honestly sounding like her heart had just broken, replying, "Oh, Cindy..."

I don't know the context of his comment, but it would be pretty damned hard to argue that *none* of the Obama Administration's policies have been... let's just say morally questionable.
this board would be all over Bush if Fast and Furious happened on his watch...

(27,630 posts)But, it is your own fault that you sat there and watched Billy Corgan talk politics with that insufferable Piers Morgan. Next time, change the channel.
