Let's face it, considering that many on the left or right hate him, his position is NOT secure.
I myself do not want him to go, for only ONE reason. I know this is payback for investigating Florida Governor Rick Scott's attempt to STEAL THE FLORIDA VOTE. The idea of the National Guard in Florida scares the hell out of the GOP, which is so desperate to get Florida they are considering a lightweight like Marco Rubio.
That being said, if Obama risks a lot defending him, he will remind the left that Eric did not do as they wanted, he would do damage with the base (something I am sure is also part of the plan)
So, here is what I suggest:
Holder goes, but Obama does a bit of "Fake" Bipartisanship..Note I say fake.
You see, there is a former Florida governor who was actually a very liberal State attorney general, despite beig a GOP, he was known for attacking the rich.
and he also has a major ax to grind at both Jeb and Rick Scott, as they forced him out of a job.
Yes, Charlie Crist, attorney General, the man who knows where all the pols bury their bodies.
Yes, thje Right wing will HOWL!, and yet, they cannot accuse this man of being far left.

Of course, the Obama I have watched in action seems more comfortable with real bipartisanship, and making concessions even before he is asked to, so don't know if it would fly.

(3,450 posts)Once Crist is installed in that position, some high roller will offer him money surreptitiously and he will become a thorn in the administration - hounding Obama from within!

(20,176 posts)Insist that if Holder is too partisan to investigate Rick Scott then they need to appoint a special prosecutor with bipartisan approval, approved by DoJ.
Nominate Crist for the job, effectively handing him the keys to run down Scott, Rubio and Jeb. Laugh as the Independent (former GOP) on GOP witchhunt makes Florida into a bloodbath that destroys the conservative leadership of the FLGOP.

Newser) Darrell Issa is eager to investigate the Obama administration, but he's got plenty of skeletons in his own closet. In a lengthy profile, the New Yorker dredges up a series of scandalous allegations from the House Oversight Chairman's criminal past. Among them: Issa has been accused of burning down a building and arrested for carrying a concealed weapon (he paid a fine, got 6 months probation) and stealing a red Maserati (case dismissed).

UPDATE: Via Miss Kitty, it looks like Darrell's minions have been busily scrubbing Wikipedia! Nice to know they read us, huh?
Dear, dear Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the incoming subpoena-wielding chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was on Faux News this weekend, attacking ACORN and Attorney General Eric Holder, talking about how "corrupt" the Obama administration is. I thought I'd take the opportunity to remind people just who's lecturing us on morality. Via Wikipeda:
