I am rereading Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis. Only when I am on the toilet. Because that's where Spider writes. I am up to the race between the Beast and the Smiler and look what I came across.
Watching Idiocracy also helps. I watched it last year and thought That is not my America. No one would make all those "fag" jokes. Not anymore. We're beyond that. And then came November, 2016 and yeah, Idiocracy is starting to sound about right again.

(112,484 posts)that tried to blame liberals for his stupidity after I tried to help him repeatedly to reclaim unpaid wages after the hospital in Wharton closed. He did not fill out the proper forms in time so he isn't going to get anything. I'm sick of hearing the crap about liberals being at fault when the source of his problems was the owner of the hospital who is an attorney in Arizona that flies around on private jets and makes huge donations to a children's charity; meanwhile, the attorney that has bankrupted multiple hospitals throughout the country with his excessive lifestyle.
It gave me a perverse pleasure to shove things back into the libertarian's face after listening to his shit so many times. I'm also tired of having people stab me in the back after trying to help them. The libertarian asses declared war on liberals decades ago and I've decided to fight back with a vengeance.

(18,874 posts)I just can't take any more. Just trying to go back to my everyday life and concentrate on what is going on around me.
And being very careful who I talk to. The Reds
have a big majority here in Missouri but so much here in the city.

(776 posts)I'm still very depressed, and each day and the news is a further assault on my function. I don't have a TV and I've stopped listening to the radio too. I absolutely can't stand any trace of normalization of this a$$hole and his team of destroyers. I am very frightened of the future.

(63,912 posts)wwe better start turning off the TV when she's on, just to save our sanity.
Is there a way we can ban her from our regular news from the online media. Because I don't think she nearly through with messing with our minds. I think there is a ban function on Facebook and Google (maybe) to screen her out as much as we can.
I'm banning her on talk shows by muting the sound while she is being interviewed and leaving the room to do something else.

(39 posts)I'm having a tough time dealing with it all. I'm still shocked, angry, and bewildered. It's very different from the sadness I felt in 2004. My wife is right when she says if I don't learn to come down from it, I'm going to make myself ill before these four or eight years are up. In response to the aggressive nastiness on FB that I dealt with from those on the other side, I've lashed out in kind and have cut people out of my life. No regrets yet. For those closer to me who voted the other way, I'm having a tough time looking past what I believe is a real character flaw. This goes so far beyond politics, in my opinion.
I need to unplug for a while and focus on my own needs (my health, my uncertain career), but I just can't seem to. I joined this forum so I can communicate with some like-minded people and I eventually will start a post seeing if others are dealing with a particular set of conflicting thoughts and emotions I have right now.

(25,590 posts)I want to get involved locally. Our local Dem party has a class for beginners that unfortunately meets at a time that I have another commitment. It's a civics, get involved type class. I really want to go. It seems most other county meetings are for more experienced types.
Otherwise, I'm not coping very well. I feel pessimistic. Yet I don't like it when people say the election was rigged etc. It makes it feel all the more hopeless for the future.
The Republican party controls everything. We need more from the ground up.
