Oh Robert, please go find your high school government teacher. Either he owes you an apology for not teaching you the basics of the role the federal government plays in the economy or you owe him an apology for not paying attention.

The gov't's role in setting trade policy, promoting US business, supporting commerce through taxation policies, promoting innovation through investment and tax incentives, regulating banks & financial instutitions, and building critical infrastructure to streamline business expenses is pretty damn substantial.

Obama also did a lot for job development by encouraging the repatriation of capital funds that US corporations have been squirreling away off-shore did a LOT toward reducing the deficit and encouraging US job growth.
