Santa is WHITE. BOYCOTT Mall of America (Triggered:Trump voter's safe space violated)

‘Santa is WHITE. BOYCOTT Mall of America’: Online racists are having a meltdown over mall’s black Santa
Tom Boggioni TOM BOGGIONI 03 DEC 2016 AT 11:31 ET

The announcement that Mall of America was welcoming its first black Santa Claus was greeted in many quarters as a good thing but, as might be expected in a country that has become increasingly more comfortable saying any racist thing that comes to mind, many were highly offended.

Three years after Fox’s Megyn Kelly definitively explained to America that both Jesus Christ and Santa Claus were white men, Mall of America dismissed her advice and hired Larry Jefferson, a retired U.S. Army veteran from Irving, Texas to spend four days at the mall listening to the wish lists of children of all colors.

According to the editorial editor of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, comments on black Santa became so offensive the paper shut down their online comments on the article about it.

“Looks like we had to turn comments off on story about Mall of America’s first black Santa. Merry Christmas everyone!” Scott Gillespie wrote.

(Examples of some of the many vile comments from the Trump faithful at the link if you got the stomach for it, Merry Christmas Amerika!)

When I was still in college, I worked part-time in the laboratory at the university hospital. One day during the holidays, I went to work and the lab administrator, an African-American woman was all excited... The hospital Christmas party was going on and she told me to hurry and get down there before it ended... they had a 'chocolate' Santa Clause!

I went down and he was fantastic... I never think of Santa anymore without thinking of the 'chocolate' Santa.

hell the comments after a black actor was cast as a major character 'loving', not physically a white character in the Star Wars: Awakening and generations of hate like that ALWAYS kept me aware of the cancer bubbling beneath the thin veneer of society/ameriKKKan culture that has finally erupted from the body and fabric of ameriKKKa in the persona of trumpfuhrerPOS-in-waiting and steve bannon.

Black Pete, the traditional sidekick to the Dutch St Nicholas is a "negative stereotype of black people", a court in Amsterdam has ruled.

It said the capital must review the character's involvement in the annual festivities in November-December.

The Dutch version of the St Nicholas legend has him and armies of Black Petes arriving by steamboat from Spain.

Previous calls to ban Black Petes - with their blackened faces, red lips and Afro wigs - have caused outrage.

On Thursday, Amsterdam's regional court said the "image of Black Pete with his thick red lips, being a stupid servant, gives rise to a negative stereotyping of black people".

It said "many black Amsterdammers felt discriminated against".

was from what is now Turkey, so we should only cast people of Middle Eastern extraction as Santa Claus. Representations of St. Nicholas in religious art range all over the spectrum, from very dark-skinned with Semitic features to northern European, depending on where and when a picture was made.

Fun factoid: in Dutch tradition, St. Nicholas has a dark-skinned companion called Zwarte Piet (Black Peter) who lives in Spain and is supposedly a Moor. Anyway,my parents told us that the Santas we see in stores are really his helpers (because how could he be everywhere?) so it makes sense that they come in all sizes, shapes and colors. As long as they can keep the kids quiet for awhile.

Watching people meltdown over a Black Santa in the Mall of America. "Santa is white!" Well, in our internment camp he was Asian. So there.

He was the Bishop of Myra, from a town that is now in Turkey. Culturally he would have been Greek (because Turkey was part of the Hellenic world), but genetically he probably looked like the Turks who now live there, with olive skin and dark eyes.

In fact he looks eerily similar to the reconstruction of St. Nick's face by archaeologists (based on the actual skull.)

Modern forensic anthropology has developed tools to help discover what people looked like. These techniques are primarily used to assist in identifying unknown crime victims. However, they can be used also for historic personages when there is access to the right information. Normally, this would be skeletal remains, including the skull.

St. Nicholas' remains are buried in the crypt of the Basilica di San Nicola in Bari, Italy. These bones were temporarily removed when the crypt was repaired during the 1950s. At the Vatican's request, anatomy professor Luigi Martino from the University of Bari, took thousands of minutely-detailed measurements and x-ray photographs (roentgenography) of the skull and other bones.

Professor of forensic pathology at the University of Bari, Francesco Introna, knew advancements in diagnostic technique could yield much more from the data gathered in the 1950s. So in 2004 he engaged expert facial anthropologist, Caroline Wilkinson, then at the University of Manchester in England, to construct a model of the saint's head from the earlier measurements.

Using this data, the medical artist used state-of-the-art computer software to develop the model of St. Nicholas. The virtual clay was sculpted on screen using a special tool that allows one to "feel" the clay as it is molded. Dr. Wilkinson says, "In theory you could do the same thing with real clay, but it's much easier, far less time-consuming and more reliable to do it on a computer."

Caroline Wilkinson updated her original 2004 work ten years later, in 2014. This new image incorporates the latest 3D interactive technology and facial reconstruction system as she had further developed it at the University of Dundee and Liverpool John Moores University. Working in the new Face Lab at the School of Art and Design, she and Mark Roughley have produced a more advanced image using the most up-to-date anatomical standards, tissue depth data from the region, and computer graphic imagery techniques. The result is a middle-aged man with a long beard, round head, and square jaw. St. Nicholas also had a severely broken nose that healed asymmetrically.

Happy, loving and jolly - and that beard is wonderful! The little boy on his lap thinks so too.

The level of racism that would cause someone to "care" about this is a prime example.
