I think we should consider adopting a 'marble' voting system like they have in The Gambia.

Step 1: Voters are issued a marble each, then proceed to the voting booth to vote.

Step 2: Each party competing in the election has a drum painted with its own identifying colors and their party symbol.

Step 3: Counting is snappy as the marbles are poured from the ballot drum into a wooden tray with holes.

The system allows counting officials to quickly ascertain the number of votes cast in each drum.

There is no paper trail, one could presumably make fake marbles and drop them in, and it takes away the secret ballot, so if you wanted to you could just buy their vote and watch them drop it in.

But I think given the circumstances its kind of a smart, inexpensive system.

And lets not forget that we have lots of problems with our system too.
