Mattis told him it was better to ply prisoner with beer and cigarettes than to torture them to get information.Who knows ? Trump has few firmly held beliefs and agrees with the last person he talked to.

Spent a year in Iraq - WMD's my ass! We didn't follow any rules when it came to invasion, rendition, torture, and murder. The middle east is a giant death-ball on the account of the west not following rules. And no, I didn't say Putin is a good guy or prop up Russia, I'm just calling out the faux patriotic meme that the USA is always the good guy and on the side of right instead of wrong. Sadly, we are not.

I am the one who has been saying that we shouldn't criticize Castro for having been a tyrant when we just elected one of our own. However Russia is not our friend. They did everything they could to elect Trump.

I wonder if Mattis favored the invasion of Iraq. As a general it was his job to prosecute the war once it started whether he thought it was prudent or not.

BTW, thank you for your service. My buddy was in the First Battle Of Fallujah.

He prosecuted the first invasion of Fallujah. A massacre of civilians. It's every soldier's job and duty, especially Generals to not follow an illegal order. Generals Zinni and Shalikashvili stood up to Rumsfeld and his crazy invasion plans and were promptly shown the door. From Franks through Petraeus to the suck-ups in charge today, our country has been captivated by a bunch of careerists and ass kissers more concerned with promotion and bombing than actually speaking the truth. The invasion was a criminal act, the people of Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, and we have destroyed a country while unleashing ISIS in the process. The Surge was a phony ploy to buy Bush and Cheney some exit time, and the fawning corporate media went along for the ride.
