(7,939 posts)sometimes it's hard to check them all out, I think it was on Yahoo, do you think DU should block us from reading things on the internet if they come from Yahoo?
If you provide a list, then I can make sure it's not a Republican propaganda and if it's on your list I won't post it.

(58,718 posts)pure and simple. They can already sell insurance in any state they want to. The only caveat is, you have to follow the rules of the state you want to sell in. This move just means that you only have to follow the rules in the state your home office is in. It's an end run aound the state insurance commissioners, especially in blue states that still have real ones that hold insurance companies accoutable.
Cue the race to the bottom in insurance quality and coverage and all of the scams.

(82,849 posts)And that's why Delaware is the preferred state of incorporation for so many national companies, because Delaware's laws are quite friendly to rip-off joints. South Dakota got the credit card companies for much the same reason. The race will be on to provide the least intrusive environment for insurance companies to make sure they can collect their premiums and refuse to pay claims.

mythology
(9,527 posts)Most insurance companies already sell in multiple states.
If they mean lower the regulations to the state level, much like with credit cards, they will all nominally be based in the insurance equivalent to Delaware.
Also the primary drivers of the cost of healthcare isn't the insurers given the ACA mandates spending a minimum of 80% on patient care or pay the difference back.
dawg
(10,624 posts)Price's plan will set into motion a death spiral that will eventually collapse the market for individual health insurance plans. As the pool gets sicker and sicker, the plans become less and less affordable. More healthy people drop out due to lack of affordability, and then the process repeats.
Hopefully, I'll be able to put my entire family on my company payroll and cover them through a group plan. But I have no idea how ordinary families are going to manage.
