After 90 minutes, when Trump deputy campaign manager Dave Bossie called Trump’s campaign CEO Steve Bannon, the former chairman of Breitbart News, “an unbelievably brilliant strategist,” an impassioned Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton’s communications director, jumped in.

“If providing a platform for white supremacists makes me a brilliant tactician I am glad to have lost,” Palmieri said. “I would rather lose than win the way the guys you did.”

Palmieri called Clinton’s speech in Reno denouncing the “alt-right” in August one of her “proudest” moments as shouting ensued across the room.

“Do you think I ran a campaign where white supremacists had a platform?” Conway snapped back. “You’re going to look me in the face and tell me that?”’

“I did, Kellyanne,” Palmieri said. “I did.”

One is not "an unbelievably brilliant strategist" when that person's candidate loses a popular vote by 2.5 million votes. One is not "an unbelievably brilliant strategist" when the only reason their candidate won the electoral college vote is because other Republicans were successful at preventing minorities from voting and preventing the votes of some of those minorities who did vote from being counted.

Those two things, done late in the campaign, were devastating. Without them, Trump was on his way to defeat. He knew that. That is why he had Christie as his transition chief. He assumed there would not be a transition, so it didn't matter who he gave that job to, it didn't matter that he didn't trust Christie. When he realized he had won, it did matter, so he took the job away from Christie and gave it to Pence.

her true, ugly self. Most of the time we saw her with that phony smile, legs crossed in a casual pose. But when called out for giving the Alt Right a platform (a semblance of "this is normal&quot , she showed her fangs and her true self. Kellyanne is not a nice person in spite of the persona she tries to project. When the mask slips, she reveals who she is and it is not pretty.

I have done my best to avoid hearing tRump and since it looks like Kellyanne is going to be around (and didn't crawl back under her rock), I will be avoiding her TV appearances, too.

In this case, it's done by people who create policy that influence the lives of millions and who are far removed from the consequences of their actions.

The news media should focus on how people are actually effected by Trump's bigotry and not on the feelings of aloof, millionaire commentators.
