Say Goodbye to Legalized Marijuana in Trump's America

Say Goodbye to Legalized Marijuana in Trump's America
Trump's Attorney General Jeff Sessions is almost certainly coming for your weed.
BEN COHEN A DAY AGO

Despite the growing body of hard scientific evidence showing Marijuana is not only not a dangerous drug, but potentially a game changing plant with extraordinary medicinal properties, political dinosaurs are still opposed to its legality in America.

While Donald Trump has previously come out in favor of drug legalization (although that was over 20 years ago) and was noncommittal on reversing marijuana legalization at the state level, his appointment of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General of the United States indicates pot smokers could be in for a rude awakening.

And he's said that it should be a state rights issue. Obama pushing to get it descheduled would keep Sessions from going 'full Nixon' on legal cannabis states.

it will be legalized everywhere, and sold at a premium price in gold-wrapped packages with the TRUMP name on it in the largest possible letters.

I doubt Trump would just let Sessions try to "shut it all down". Trump himself said it should be a state rights issue. It would likely lose Trump a lot of support. Keep in mind the majority of the country backs legalization. Liberals would all just point and say "See, this is what happens when you elect conservatives. So much for respecting state rights huh?".

Aside from that, I think the legalization movement is a bit too big to just 'shut down' now. The feds have bigger fish to fry and probably don't have the resources to go after tens of thousands of legal cannabis businesses.

Turbo-wingnuts aren't historically in the legalization camp and frequently demonized pot itself.

I'm not even getting where such logic took root.

And her running mate wasn't exactly a champion for the cause either. He's pretty bad on the issue and has an F rating from NORML. This was a large part of why I hated the guy.

Tim Kaine’s regressive and repressive views and votes on marijuana recently earned him into a “hall of shame” over at StopTheDrugWar.com. Just last month, they consolidated NORML’s congressional scorecard, and displayed the names of 26 current US senators to whom they have given an “F” rating on marijuana prohibition. Unsurprisingly, only four were Democrats; unfortunately, one of those four prohibitionists is Tim Kaine. He recently said:

"I wouldn’t vote for a law at the federal or state level that would decriminalize marijuana."

The only GOOD candidate for legalization was Sanders....
