Just as con artists and stereotypical used car salesman do. On top of that he has spent the last few years pretending to be an entertainer, where he likely learned a few tricks about manipulatin large audiences. Many underestimated him once. We should not do it again.

I, for one, have, since the day of his announcement, considered him a danger, not a joke. as I pointed out repeatedly when hearing people dismiss him as a joke--"that was what many thought about hitler, and look how that turned out".
