What are you doing to help democrats get elected in November?

I'm curious because I feel like I do a lot (talking, posting on facebook, letting people know how I feel in a friendly welcoming manner, reading and occasionally posting here). Last election I know I influenced a few friends to vote for Obama, and they will vote for him again. But I know I can do more. I'm very concerned about voter apathy. I don't want to go door to door, because I myself don't like it when people interrupt me at home (I work out of my home) or make unsolicited phone calls.

I'm not trying to sound self-righteous, and hope there aren't those types of replies here. Just stating how I am.

So, I'd love to hear from some of the wise souls here on what you are doing. Maybe some of it will prove good advice that I'll take to heart and actually help accomplish. What works well? What doesn't work so well?

We need to keep our eyes on the prize. We need to win at State levels, in Congress, and the Presidency this November!

Seriously, thanks for the laugh. That doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Most people are really ignorant dumb f*cks. Their non-working time goes like this;

"Hey, let's go to the 7-11 and get some nachos & cheese and a case of beer. Then go back to my place and catch THE GAME on my new big screen TV" I got at Best Buy with no money down."

or else, for many who know, are intelligent, but look for excuses;

"They [Harvard academia] liked the poor, but didn't like the smell of the poor.” ~ Chris (1956-)

what's OFA, and what do you do when you phone bank?

Thank you for your dedication; that's awesome you are doing these things.

Voter registration at every local carnival & celebration - great work!

Organizing for America

When we phone bank, we call past supporters and ask for volunteers. We ask if they plan to support the President in November. We ask undecideds if there are any issues about which they are concerned. We also remind everyone that they will need a photo ID for voting.

in 2008 I worked the primary - served as a co-precinct chair, phone-banking, door to door. I'll likely do more of that this fall.

Check with your local Democratic party office...I'm sure they'd love to have one more hand on board. National campaigns can and do take care of themselves...but you make the biggest impact and get the greatest satisfaction by working on a local campaign. If Progressives are to grow they must do it from the grassroots...one person at a time.

That's been along the lines of what I want to do.

I'm considering dragging a friend with me. I feel more comfortable with another person.

Besides our get out the vote efforts, we need to make everyone aware of the very real possibility, the very easy set up designed for stealing elections that we currently have in place.

and I saw a dem meeting nearby this week, so I may attend if I can get off my lazy lardbutt. But this is my first stretch of a few days off in forever, without some major disaster to contend with (knock wood), and I really should be using the time to look for paying work because the hospital where I'm per diem is cutting back and so I have a few days at a stretch off with no money coming in.

But then I'm thinking maybe volunteering I'll meet somebody other than the 12 year olds I met the last time I volunteered. And meeting some like-minded people may help me out of my nonstop funk due to working with a bunch of Ron Paul nuts where I just have to keep my mouth shut cuz I'm outgunned and outnumbered...

And just moved almost 600 miles to do so. But I can't do this alone. I need volunteers to get the message out across the (very large) district.
