Notes from the Underground #11: Ask people to do something

I'm upset

You're upset

Lots of other people are upset

Should we try to have a big meeting where we can all bitch and moan and cry in our beer?

Screw that: it's a waste of time

We want to get some people to do something

We don't start with grandiose plans

We start with something small enough to be doable in a week or so

Well, it's okay if that didn't work: it wasn't pointless because (fugg yeah!) we did something!

It got us over a hump!

It overcame our inertia!

We'll be nice to ourselves about it

When we try to bring in new people, we'll remember they may need to get over a hump too

And we'll be nice to them about it, because we were all there once

Now --- what do we do next?
