2 theories on Romney

It is easy to think he is just being a sleazy opportunist, typical politician. I mean really, look at how his policies changed from being Gov of Mass to Repub nominee.

My gut is to write him off and be pissed at him.

But, I keep getting this nagging voice.... what if....

option 1 - He is really a patriot, and believes that Trump's foreign policy knowledge is shit. That he is dangerous and Romney is swallowing his pride thinking he may be a buffer against disaster.

option 2 - Pence is stacking the cabinet in the event he feels he needs to invoke article 4 of the 25th.

POTUS with someone like Pence but Trump is way too dangerous. Plus, the takeover/chaos would help us in the mid-terms and hopefully at the State level for 2020 apportionment.

to the second one, definitely w/ opportunistic streak -- but not b/c trump is seen as the opportunity.

I think Pence, Ryan, Priebus, and Romney are getting whatever appointment or agreement (fir support on bills, e.g.) they can for their own political sakes. I think they figure they can influence and manipulate trump to do what they want. Then, if that fails, they will blackmail him directly or indirectly, because they already know trump has committed crimes and that he is about to commit more once he takes office. If that doesn't work for ryan, priebus, romney, pence, then they will either participate in impeachment or "allow" Dems to pursue it (and conveniently without putting up a fight).

Regardless, Romney, Ryan, Priebus, Pence and any of their cronies are about to be in charge if they get their way.
