Trump And Pence Bribe Carrier With Massive Taxpayer-Funded Giveaway To Score PR Win

The president-elect is likely to claim that his great dealmaking skills are responsible for making the agreement happen, but what he won’t say is that United Technologies – Carrier’s parent company – was basically bribed with taxpayer dollars to keep a few hundred jobs in Indiana – and it had nothing to do with Trump himself.

Tweet from CNBC’s David Faber:

Deal terms to keep Carrier jobs in Indiana include new inducements from state. Deal spear headed by former Indiana Gov Pence.
4:13 PM - 29 Nov 2016

According to CNBC, “There were new incentives on offer from the state of Indiana, where Pence is governor, that helped clear a path for the agreement.”

In other words, Pence served up a massive, taxpayer-funded handout to the company in order to score a short-term PR win. Trump will claim victory on Thursday when, really, it was a state-funded handout that convinced Carrier to keep some of its employees in the state.

over is that over 2000 jobs were slated to go, and for the time being they have saved 1000 jobs, but 1000 are still going.

While saving 1000 jobs is still a good thing, no one knows if a year down the road if those jobs will still be there

After the C-levels and investors bank that handout, they'll continue with their plan.

It happens a lot around here locally. A company gets a taxpayer handout to open and supply X number of jobs. They end up only supplying X/4 jobs. The local government comes after them because they violated the agreement and the company moves elsewhere, or the locals blast the government for holding the company to their contract. Either way the tax payers are out money and jobs.

But hey, that's not being dishonest or fraudulent, that's being "shrewd." and should be something to emulate, right?

When Kasich was elected Governor, he announced and rammed through 150 million in tax breaks to Diebold and American Greetings to keep them in Ohio. Who know is they were really planning to relocate or just threatening to see what they could con from the new Lehman Bros Governor hungry for a "win on jobs". They ended up laying hundreds of workers off in subsequent years.

9. And if Carrier went to the Jack Welch school of business they'll take the money and tax breaks

and continue on with their plan one year later...but the tax breaks will remain.
