Trump a populist?

Why is he called a populist when he is not. Media has made him out to be part of an international movement of populism which has me wondering if there is another definition of populist other than what is found in dictionaries.

Are the other so-called populists running on lies to gain the votes and will also become corporatists once elected or are they truly populists?
Is the label used on trump only because his campaign appealed to the working class?
Is this term populist a RW meme to soften the blow of a corporatist taking over our country?

The media made it possible for Trump propaganda to be disseminated wide spread.

Trump is the Plutocrat's president. Dropping their taxes to nothing, getting rid of the Estate Tax, and lying to the rest of us as to who he is looking out for.

part of an international populist movement, right?

I just see where politicians who support white privilege against other races and refugees are being called populists. If I am correct then as you say - media spread his lies - and are now supporting him with their own lies.

I would expect the person so labeled would have to have the support of a majority of the populace, not just the loudest minority.
