So a Republican friend sent me this:
"Businesses brace for Trump decision on H1b visas"
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/11/25/businesses-brace-for-trump-decision-on-h-1b-visas-in-wake-sessions-pick.html
Despite Trump saying this:
I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions, he said.
I told my friend that I thought that Trump may add some additional hoops to jump through, but that businesses will convince him that they MUST be able to import workers. When faced with a choice between workers and business, Trump will choose business. My friend said "We'll see". Indeed we will.
What do you think?

(58,656 posts)they don't seem to care much about retraining for different careers/jobs. H1bs aren't used to fill blue collar jobs. They go to techies and engineers that require the extended education that they won't seek out. Trump lied to them, constantly. They will have to learn that the hard way. Meanwhile, the rest of us get to suffer with them.

(61,695 posts)It's not just about "cheap labor." In some cases it's about finding someone who can do the job.
