General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHere are some groups who may well need your help
after January 20. When you meet someone from one of these groups, or if you already know someone, let them know that you are on their side and will do what you can to stand by them if they are attacked, threatened, discriminated against or otherwise have problems with individuals or groups that are emboldened by Donald Trump and his fanatical followers. The list is in no particular order.
Women & Girls - All women and girls may need support against predatory or misogynistic actions.
LGBTQIA people - Trumpeters are opposed to the very existence of people in this group.
Hispanics - Any Spanish-speaking people and anyone who appears to be such may be singled out.
Muslims - This group is going to be especially targeted by the right. Violence is possible.
African Americans - Profiling and targeting of this group is going to increase.
Native Americans - Always a target of bigots, this group is often mistaken for other groups, too.
All Non-English-Speaking People - From tourists to immigrants, there will be discrimination against them.
People of Indian Heritage - Often mistaken for Muslims by morons, all are at risk, with Sikhs even more at risk.
East Asians - Whatever their national origins or background, many right-wingers treat them all as subhuman.
All First-Generation Immigrants - Expect discrimination against anyone who is a new American.
All Non-Caucasians - This catch-all group may be mistaken for almost any other group and discriminated against.
People with Handicaps - Physical, mental and developmental handicaps make this group a target of idiots.
People Living in Poverty - Calvinists and right-wingers see these people as perpetual losers.
Old People - These are considered as useless eaters by right-wingers, unless they are close relatives.
Children - Unless they are the right-wingers own children or closely related, they are a tax burden.
Jewish People - Antisemitism is a commonplace in right-wingers and is insidious.
All Non-Christians - Fundamentalists have very narrow definitions of Christianity, and are often intolerant of others.
Atheists - People who have no religious beliefs at all are among the least-trusted people, everywhere.
Environmentalists - Even driving a hybrid car or a small economical vehicle can make you a target of guys in trucks.
Intelligent, Educated People - Right-wingers don't trust academics, intellectuals or anyone smarter than they are.
Democrats and Progressives - For right-wingers, these are considered to be the enemy.
Please feel free to add your own categories to the list.

They must feel that they are safe to speak and lead us or else it is a group that could largely compromise or stay silent

(42,757 posts)They gave enough. RWers always want to take more away from them while waving a flag.
And Labor Union members. Big Business will be given
more tools to crush and eradicate organized labor.

(146,317 posts)They'll at least give lip service to those who served, even while wiping out their benefits.
No direct attacks on individual veterans, though. They'll get at them through institutional changes.
The right likes to pretend it has enormous respect for veterans. It sometimes backfires on them, though. A lot of right-wingers who never served like to praise veterans and attempt to speak for them. When I inform them that many Democrats and progressives, like myself are also veterans, they aren't sure what to say.

(21,646 posts)I said today at a lunch table, I think this could be the end of unions coming now. Look how trump is fighting in LV . He is personally connected to benefitting from union loss of power with even more industry than just his hotels.
Laws will be passed
Hope they give vets a pass and not take away but RW never stop, they will get to vets eventually if we let them.
Now vets need to call them on their patriotic bs not lose the VA.
