See, the thing about Cuba, Fidel Castro and the Cubans that fled to the USA is this.
They are like us and everybody else. Some good, some bad. No neat box to label and store. Lots of grey area. Like all humans.
The government of Cuba before Castor's revolution was corrupt to the core! Rich people ruled. Poor people wallowed in misery and despair. Once the revolution happened, Castro fell into the normal trappings of power. Yes, there were good things under Castor's rule. But he was also a tyrant and much of Cuba suffered.
Now, the people that left. The first wave to leave and come to the USA were the people that were benefiting from the corrupt pre Castro government. Yes they lost most if not everything they had in Cuba. But many of these were the rich people that were oppressing the rest of their country.
But there are many people that did flee Cuba that were not in the people I was talking about in the above paragraph. These people were fleeing Castro because he was oppressing them and they were not apart of the old ruling class.
Castro was just a human. Some good. Probably more bad. He did help stop a corrupt government. But what he replaced it with was not much better then what he removed.
The people that benefited from the old corrupt government hated Castro. The people Castro hurt, hated Castro.
But now that is over. Castro is dead. There are many people that can let go of lots of hate now. Maybe at least a small part of the world can move forward now.
