Was just watching Return of the Jedi on TV

There's a part where a slobbering Jabba the Hutt tells an obviously disgusted Princess Leia who he's kept as a love slave, "Soon you will learn to appreciate me."

Leia's unspoken visual response is predictably repulsed.

Makes as much sense as, "Give him a chance. He's our president now and we need to wish him the best."

Now I think we all know how Leia felt.

I do love it, it's one of my favorites.

BUT...

Ok, Darth Vader has slaughtered a lot of little kids personally, oversaw the destruction of many peoples and at least one, maybe two whole planets.

He throws the Emperor down a reactor shaft, and Hey Presto! Everything is forgiven!

Give me a (bleep) break.

but deep mythology and the hero's journey. Inspired by Joseph Campbell.
Jesus is just one story that fits.
Redemption is a big part of it.
