Jill Stein appreciation thread

Thank you for calling for and executing a recount.

Hillary would have been pilloried and called a sore loser by Trump, Trumpkins and their lap dogs in the press if she requested one even though she won the popular vote by 2, 500,000 votes.

so many times here on DU. She's a secret Trumper because she has no chance of winning and always attacked Clinton and the Democrats.

We need to support Democrats. Party over Principle. The Democratic Party candidate gave up and conceded. We all need to support what the Party does!

PARTY! PARTY! Fuck principles!

It wasn't like 2000 where you can make a logical argument that the 537 votes Bush won the election by in Fl wouldn't have mattered if Gore won some of the 91,000 votes Nader garnered.

I can do the math if you want.

34. Jill Stein is scamming Democrats to raise money for the Green Party
Fri Nov 25, 2016, 05:11 AM
Nov 2016

Remember that her avowed goal for the past year and a half was to do everything in her power to make sure that Hillary Clinton was not elected president of the United States.

Now, her goal is to take advantage of those same Democrats in order to raise money for her party, which is devoted to defeating Democrats in elections.

Her "goal" for the fundraiser keeps getting higher. She is now asking for seven million dollars.

This is more than three times the amount necessary to pay the fees associated with filing for a recount in those states.

Her site claims vague "lawyer fees" and other unspecified costs. The site also claims that there is no guarantee any of these recounts will occur, and that any extra funds will be used "to promote voting reform" which is of the things the Green Party itself claims to promote.

Lots of folks worked on the BBV issue in 2003-2004. Bev Harris at BlackBoxVoting.org has been working on this for over a decade. The polarization that Trump has created may finally generate the interest in this topic, and based on their surpassing $5M today, that's just what is happening.

Why the bad attitude? Yes, there is an argument that the Green's lost the race for Clinton by dividing the vote. But the good news is that she has the standing to press a case that many of us have made for years - BBV sucks and we have to get rid of corporate-owned voting machine software, along with non-verifiable touch-screen voting systems. The Clinton campaign had the option to do so and they made a different decision. So go Jill!

We have to look at this in a positive light. It's about the future much more than it is about today. Only through supporting the recount and highlighting widely and loudly how f'ed up our electoral system is might we achieve change.

And WTF, what if it actually turned up fraud and we turned around the election? That is a long reach but hey, if everyone contributes what they can, is it not worth the risk? How much did we all contribute to various campaigns trying to win the election?

Support the recount! It's for our kids...
