General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just saw an ad for Amazon Prime that made me happy.
No talk, just light piano music. Two bearded clerics, one Muslim, one Catholic are visiting (maybe playing a game, maybe just talking). When the Muslim leaves you see each of them clicking on an Amazon Prime icon on their smart phones. Next you see packages being delivered to their homes. Each has received a gift a knee pads from the other. Useful for kneeling as shown in the closing scenes.
I know it's not changing structures, but we sure do need some communal rooting for true American values wherever we can get it.

The ad was made in Britain with real clergymen. The priest is actually not Catholic, but Church of England (Anglican).
We wanted to get the story right because we were aware it might seem a sensitive subject to some people, said Morris. We have gone to great lengths. It has taken us months to develop it. We wanted to do it well and be respectful to the religions who are featured in it.
Amazon used a real vicar, from Paddington Green church in west London, while the imam is the principal of the Muslim School Oadby in Leicester.
The campaign, developed by London ad agency Joint, features the vicar and imam buying each other knee pads after their religious duties give them sore knees.

(43,049 posts)what we need now.
While we're out trashing Big Bizness, we need to remember that they sell stuff and need people to buy it. No company can afford to piss off a major sector of the population, or see sectors at war with each other.
Racism, sexism and other "-isms" are simply bad for business, and while we should remain a little skeptical, we should appreciate some companies for their rationality in times like these.

Just saying.
