FWIW, I've purchased 2 different prescriptions. One for a generic Zetia mfg. & sold in the EU but not in the US, saved $115.00/mo. and an anti itch tablet that saved $34.00/mo. You still need to provide a prescription.

(9,760 posts)The PA I see (she's so much better than the doc she works for!) recommended that I try a Canadian Pharmacy due to the outrageous cost of some of my meds, but she wouldn't go as far as to recommend a particular one.

(9,760 posts)I've never heard of it. US online Rx seller?

(39,343 posts)You enter your rx and town you're in and it shows how much it will cost at different pharmacies. You take your smartphone with the code and BOOM you save a ton. I don't know how it works but it works at most chain pharmacies. You then have the rx transferred to where you want. It's for cash only and not insurance. It's somehow legit, for now.
I endorse it.

(9,760 posts)I haven't yet checked the current price where I usually get it, but the coupon price is far less than I've paid on some previous occasions. The prices of my meds have been changing dramatically every few months for the past few years.
I'll be checking Good Rx from now on.

I take another one that they discontinued for a while in order to justify a massive price hike.

(39,343 posts)I had to call around town (and I live in a big town) just to find it. Luckily I still had insurance then.

(60,010 posts)So get your doc to give you a lot of refills. If you explain the cost savings to the doc, they usually will work with you.
The pharmacy puts the coupon code into their putr when they first fill it, then automatically refills at that price.
We do not have a smart phone, I just print off the coupon from the web.

(60,010 posts)When I knew I would have buy outrageously expensive drugs, I took a look at Canada pricing, then took a look at goodrx.
HUGE savings difference on generic versions of needed drugs.
At first I did not think goodrx or any of the other online discount site were for real, but out of desperation tried it.
And wow.....a generic drug that would have cost 200.00 a month cash price cost me 20.00, as did every re-fill.
( Brand name price was 800.00 a month)
No insurance premiums, no co-pays, plus very low discounted prices..we are savings ...literally...thousands.

(9,760 posts)I found an interesting article purporting to explain how these drug discount schemes work. Frankly, I'm not sure I understand it. My brain got fried on Nov 11, and I've been having some trouble concentrating.

(60,010 posts)but the important part is that I can afford a needed drug.
Now, in the linked page, they talk about GoodRx type companies selling your personal info.
Well, so could the pharmacy, cause they have address and name right on the script.
I don't care. I screen phone calls and I toss unsolicited mail and I enjoy not going bankrupt because I cannot afford insurance company premiums and co-pays for my meds.
Right now it is working out well.

(39,343 posts)What would cost me $500 for 3 scripts, I can find for $80 combined.
Like all things that are too good to be true, I suspect it will not last long.
