We need a prosecutor somewhere to take the next instance of pro-Trump vandalism or assault, and prosecute the case to the maximum level possible: no lowered charges, no plea-bargaining. Send someone to Jail, let him/her lose their job, let their savings be drawn down in legal fees. The only way this stops is if the instigators understand that severe penalties will drop on them like a ton of bricks.

Sorry, not trying to be contentious. I have a nephew who has succumbed to the dark side. He browses Brietbart and drudge (I know, I know, fake news), and he keeps sending me outraged stories of "fake" reports (always reported by liberals, of course), peppered with "real" stories of Trump supporters having their cars keyed, property defaced, etc. It makes me very sad seeing this young man so brainwashed by the constant lies of the right.

I think there are idiots on both sides of the divide (but way more on the right), as well as plenty of apolitical social media idiots looking for 15 minutes of fame. I have no doubt there is plenty of hatred unleashed right now; does anyone know a reliable source of news (besides DU) that is both reporting on real hate crimes and willing to debunk the fake stories?

when dealing with them. They think that the only legitimate truthful news comes from Breitbart. They really do believe that all information from all around the world is liberal propaganda. Some are even turning against Fox News now. I too was told Snopes is a left wing propaganda site. I don't think there's any getting through to them at this point, they'll need extensive deprogramming. The world they live in must be an awful, fear filled, hateful place- I mean, imagine how it must feel to think the entire PLANET is conspiring against you.
