My letter to the editor published Friday

From the Internet: "How are you feeling today? Terrible. Thanks for asking. I'm 71 years old. Disabled. Never been a 10. No kids. Husband incarcerated. Feel very alone. But I am one of the lucky ones, I am white. Husband called to wish me Happy Veterans Day. I advised him unless things change drastically not to even think about applying for parole. He is safer where he is. Better security."

I apologize to the Obamas. We dishonor them with these election results. We never deserved them. Now we have mathematical proof. Perhaps it is arrogant of me, but I won't waste my time or energy convincing some racist we're all God's children. That's going to have to be assigned to someone else. Today there were reports of hijabs being ripped off, a black babydoll in an elevator with a noose around its neck, LGBT hotlines overloaded, Swastikas being painted across America, English classes for immigrants empty. Giving his fans deep tissue massages of fear and loathing, they used the ballot box as an anger management tool.

To say Trump is at all competent is like saying freshly laid asphalt is as nutritious as it looks.Hey, corporate media, Trump didn't tap into people's feelings. He exploited them. Do not normalize this guy, He has a mandate for violating the rule of law. That is a fight, not fate. Obama and Clinton gave speeches full of grace. That may be remembered as naive. When they go low, we resist. Hate won. It won't win forever. We will have each others' backs, shoulders and attics. I do not call for calm and healing. I call to enrage and engage.

The Cabinet: their strategy for draining the swamp is to put the snakes in charge. We know from experience in Wisconsin when Republicans get a mandate they move quickly. Big and Bold? It will be like a Marx Brothers' movie. I got a bill, You got a bill. Passed. Electric Moses and his Disciples are drooling at the prospect of dismantling any program of value to Americans. Like a chainsaw through butter, they will slash ACA, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and return us to a sepia version of old- timey America where people lived before being straitjacketed by Roosevelt.

The poor and disabled will increase the homeless population tenfold. Voucher schools, bombs, fouling the planet, deportees, gay bashing, poison food, racism, police state, press suppression, this is Trump's vision of Paradise. We reject this. The 1% will have their cake and eat it, hoard it, freeze-dry it, so they can carry the frosting in their pockets for later. The fact that nobody else gets a crumb makes it all the more tasty.

Dear Muslims, immigrants, poor, disabled, students, women, blacks and browns: I love you boldly and proudly. We will not break. We will hold the line.

That's it in a nutshell. He shamelessly exploited the worse among us.
