The actors time in a WWII internment camp gives him a powerful perspective on todays troubles. It was chilling enough to learn that President-elect Donald Trumps team was discussing the idea of a registry for Muslim immigrants. The news grew even more alarming when Carl Higbie, a Trump surrogate, defended the notion by citing the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II.
Now, people in search of a ray of hope are turning to actor-turned-activist George Takei and his inspiring 2014 TED Talk.
Takeis speech, which he shared on Twitter on Thursday, offers both a sober warning and a stirring call to stand up for American ideals:
In his 2014 presentation, Takei spoke of being taken to a prison camp in Arkansas when he was only 5 years old. It was just months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and it didnt matter to authorities that he, his mother and his siblings were all born in the U.S.

No words. The horror continues.
Sad that so many refused to vote for a woman. Whatever, look at how long it took men to give us the right to vote. I guess it will take us another 100 years as we watch men like Donnie continue to take us back.
Thanks for your vote. Oh, wait....never mind.

I hope Hillary and Bill will continue their immeasurably good humanitarian work around the world, and it carries on long after we are all gone.
We fought for Hillary. We won some.
She gave us a lifetime. I can't ask anymore of her.
We'll find new heroes and hopes. Barack Obama showed up out of the blue! I'm sure there are others coming!
We'll find them - together.
We are still and forever stronger together.
