I think Trump is playing with Romney.

I think it's a game. I think he is bringing him to Trump Tower just to humiliate him. Think about the attack Romney launched against Trump in that speech. Now Trump is going to stick a shiv in him.

Don't forget this: Trump is a vindictive sociopath. This is the way Trump operates.

"won" any of his battles. Never actually vanquished a foe. Trump owes him nothing, so he can't refuse to pay.

Romney will go on as whatever he is, no matter what Trump does, or doesn't do. I suspect Romney is going, not because he expects to be SoS, but it's simple courtesy to the office (not the person occupying it) to show up when invited.

ever do otherwise.

But, there are protocols for dealing with a Presidential invitation, even if the President is a lowlife scumbag. The office is to be respected, even if the resident is beneath contempt.

Romney did offer the usual fence-mendings after the election. But even if one takes them seriously, Romney still could walk out of the meeting with his head held high.

Romney is old school and I doubt he'll use this meeting for cheap headlines. That's Trump's way.

(No, I am not a big Romney fan, but after this year's Republican gangbang, he's is looking pretty good by comparison.)

I just can't believe that someone his age can be so pathetically vindictive and immature. I know 12 year olds that conduct themselves with more poise and sophistication.

Went from having his name floated for veep to a long rocky descent, and then out on his ass in a purge.

On the one hand, Romney is head and shoulders above anyone else whose name has been mentioned; on the other hand, Romney should watch his every step.

Trump is just taunting him. He's dangling a carrot in front of him and then he's going to snatch it away when Romney reaches for it. It's retaliation for Romney not being loyal. JMO

Kind of a shame if you are. Romney might not be a bad SoS for a Repub. He's only partly batshit crazy compared to most of the Trump cabal.
