That's a fused glass piece. Notice the long, dark-toned bar that's sort of rainbow-y at the upper end? That's a piece of dichroic glass. This specific one is black art glass coated with various mixtures of precious metal powders - that, when treated in a special vacuum chamber, and fired in an industrial kiln, wind up as fabulous, nearly psychedelic, iridescent glass. When those compounds are applied to clear glass, it produces art glass that shows certain colors when you have it in your hand or maybe sitting on a plain tabletop, but held up to the light reveal all kinds of other, complementary colors. It's like you see two colors, from the same glass. TRIPPY as All-Get-Out!

A good friend of ours, who works in it a lot as an artist, got me into this. I've taken a few workshops which are amazing fun and what you can make can just blow yer mind!

Here: Enjoy!

However, from the one pic it was difficult for my 18 month long election addled brain to focus enough to see the trees in the forest.

Much obliged to all of you.

And yes, that looks like a wonderful thing.
