Absentee voting in Alabama

Gee, let's see how hard we can make this.

1. Get the absentee ballot application
You can request an application for an absentee mail-in ballot by printing, filling out, and submitting the absentee form.

2. Fill out the application
Step 1 · Provide your name
Step 2 · Provide your email address
Steps 3–4 · Provide your address, and the address where you want your ballot mailed, if different
Step 5 · Enter the name/location of the polling place where you usually vote
Step 6 · Provide your birthday
Step 7 · Provide work and home telephone numbers
Step 8 · To receive an absentee ballot for the general election on Nov 8, check the box for "General election"
Step 9 · Check the box to indicate why you’re applying for an absentee ballot
Step 10 · Sign the application

3. Return the application
Mail your absentee ballot application to your Absentee Election Manager so it’s received by Nov 3.

4. Vote
Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions* to fill out the ballot and return envelope
Include a copy of an accepted ID

*instructions Ballot Procedure
The absentee ballot comes with three envelopes -- one plain (the secrecy envelope), one with an affidavit, or oath, printed on the outside, and one plain envelope, preaddressed (the outer envelope). Once the voter casts the ballot, the procedure is as follows:
Seal the ballot in the plain envelope
Place the plain envelope inside the accompanying affidavit envelope
Seal the affidavit envelope and complete the affidavit that is on the outside of the envelope
Sign the affidavit and have the signature witnessed by either a notary public or two witnesses 18 years of age or older
Place the affidavit envelope and a COPY of voter identification inside the outer envelope
Remember to place a copy of your I.D. (NOT THE ORIGINAL) inside the outer envelope
WITNESSES OR NOTARIZATION
An absentee ballot cannot be counted unless the affidavit is notarized or has the signatures of two witnesses.

Mail your ballot to your Absentee Election Manager so that it's postmarked no later than Nov 7 and received no later than noon on Election Day, Nov 8

Go to the town hall, ask for an absentee ballot.
Fill it out, put it in the supplied envelope, hand it to the clerk.
She puts it in the box labeled "Absentee Ballots".
It will be counted on election day.
easy peasy
