New at the zoo: Parents Chewie and Stevie welcome baby white-handed gibbon (Threatened Species)

Theres a new baby white-handed gibbon to gawk at in the Omaha zoos Lied Jungle.
The little critter was born on Oct. 15 at the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium to mother Chewie, 17, and father Stevie, 24. The pair last birthed a baby in November 2014.
The little primates gender isnt known yet, as mom keeps her baby tucked in tight, but if you look close you should be able to get a glimpse of the gibbon in the jungles Asian rainforest and from the TreeTops Restaurant.
With this birth, there are now 82 white-handed gibbons in 33 Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited institutions. Native to the rainforests of southeast Asia, white-handed gibbons also known as lar gibbons are listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Natures Red List of Threatened Species.
