Politico reporting that Biden is at the top of the list for potential SOS.
He would be extraordinary in this role. He has more experience than anyone I can think of for this position.

(135,425 posts)At the end of the day, HRC as VEEP was TOO much change and Biden got to play the "Older/Wiser" guy on the ticket. Also, SECSTATE gave her a degree of separation which can sometimes be useful.
He has a very good grasp of foreign policy issues to the point where he can get well down in the weeds, which isn't really obvious to people who just see the jovial/sidekick side of the guy.
If he gets that job, he will probably be slightly less avuncular in his presentation, and more serious/statesmanlike.

(9,350 posts)She needs to get some new blood in the State Department. There has to be some person who has not been a Senator and the Vice President. Isn't there some young Democrat out there that has enough national security and foreign policy credentials to be promoted to Secretary of State?

Joe for Secretary of Labor, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Transportation--something where his job was making public policy make sense for ordinary households. If there was a Department of Kickin'Ass, he'd be The Man.
