(83,785 posts)I Vote for Women
By effectively focusing our leadership, political giving and votes -- we will push past the tipping point and finally breakthrough the status quo. With women's focused leadership at all levels of government and business, we will achieve greater economic security, opportunity and advancement, family-friendly work environments, women-owned business growth, retirement security, equal rights and human rights.
When we focus our power, we shape the world

(83,785 posts)Women Leading Politics and Policy
As we come together to focus our tremendous voting clout with candidates who are supportive of our views and issues we will breakthrough the status quo, dramatically raise our influence and incomes, put our stamp on political and world leadership and the business/employer marketplace we will finally secure women-led progress in world leadership, human rights, fair pay and promotion, family-friendly work environments, retirement security and women-owned business growth.
This transformation will consummate women's long path to political and economic power and create a better world for all.
The women's movement is far from over. In many ways we have just begun.

(83,785 posts)Our moms, grand moms and great grand moms were there for us. How could they possibly leave their daughters and great grand daughters behind.
It is past time. It is our time to show the world what we are made of. I truly believe we can make a huge difference.

(24,568 posts)we will make a difference. It is so gratifying to me to read of the republican women coming on board. The message will be sent loud and clear, and our mothers and grandmothers and great grandmothers will be honored by a record turnout of women voters putting the first woman in the White House.

(5,376 posts)I was raised in Colorado where women were given the right to vote in 1893. Not sure I truly appreciated what a progressive state I lived in at the time (kid growing up), but I sure do now. Currently live in Oregon, where I moved some 47 years ago, which gave women the right to vote in 1912, thanks to an amazing woman named Abigail Scott Duniway and a governor named Oswald West who also helped save Oregon's beaches for public use.
BTW, just filled out my ballot today. Vote By Mail--love it! Should be established nationally as far as I'm concerned. I worked for unequal pay for many, many years, finally got a position toward the end of my career that paid me the same as a man would have made, something of a break in the good ol' boy tradition. Believe me, I am totally aware of my incredible good fortune, and I have zero patience with anyone, male or female, who does not vote--but in particular, females.
Think about the price that was paid, ladies, and vote!!
Thanks, sheshe for this great reminder of how we got here!

(65,391 posts)get past the obstacles the right wingers deliberately create to suppress their vote is that they--i.e., black voters--are intensely aware of the sacrifices made to protect their right to vote. When the evil RWers try to suppress the black vote, it just reinforces their resolve, so they stand in line for hours if they have to do so in order to cast their vote because they know how important it is.
We have long been able to count on African American voters to show up for us. I hope this election will help convince women, Latinx voters, and young voters to show up and vote in every election--including midterms and state & local elections. If those groups start doing that, we will keep winning at all levels.

(11,566 posts)Too often, the commitment and sacrifices of the suffragettes are swept under the rug. We owe them much and women should exercise their right to vote every at every opportunity. Taking it for granted and not voting only legitimizes the misogynists who would repeal the 19th Amendment in a heartbeat. Even in 2016, there is a Twitter movement to "Repeal the 19th." When you think it can't happen here, that's when it usually does.

(1,019 posts)if these women - and the men who stood with them - had given up!? I am only now realizing the value and significance of the "commitment and sacrifices of the suffragettes" (well said btw) in this election where we have the first opportunity to vote for and elect the first female president. To me, it finally brings home the accomplishment of the movement for womens' right to vote; meaning this issue comes full circle.
