(8,912 posts)Early on I said that Trump's run is in collusion with the Clintons for the purpose of showing just what the GOP base is and drive a stake through it's heart.
I still think there is a chance this is true.

(8,291 posts)but that would start another civil war in this country and we have so many more guns now than we did during the first civil war. It would get ugly and fast.
And end America as we know it. I just keep wishing this thought isn't true. Ever.

(7,639 posts)He couldn't be anymore successful at screwing up the GOP if he tried. Maybe he is?
He was nothing like the RW nutball he now portrays as little as 10 years ago. Socially liberal, didn't really hate blacks although he didn't hang out with many, probably due more to their not being in his elite financial/social circle than anything else.
His turn about is either contrived or a result of his smelling a way to make money off the rubes in the GOP base while boosting his ego along the way. Of course, he is sexist and a womanizing skirt chaser if not a flat-out sexual predator but those come in all types of political persuasion.
Look, he's not even trying to win the election now and appears to be actively sabotaging any chance of that happening. He's not helping anyone down ticket win their elections either, although few at this point would actually welcome his efforts on their behalf.
Whatever is going on, this guy in the biggest gift to the Democrats and our cause since forever.

(62,444 posts)It's a tempting thought, but he does not have the talent required to pull it off, and to enlist his kids in the cause.

(45,528 posts)a former NY Dem, former friend of the Clintons, flames out so badly and so incompetently. It does seem like he's throwing the election and doesn't want to be president.
And 2 weeks before the election, what sort of person decides to focus attacks on his own party and spend time/money on his hotel openings instead of campaigning?
The only reason I have to doubt the false flag possibility is he has become so hated and his businesses have suffered and will continue to suffer. I don't believe anyone would do that on purpose.

(16,856 posts)they would be showing this ad to Trump and asking him when Hillary turned crooked. I'd really like to hear the answer to that. I just do not trust someone who loves your dirty knickers one minute and calls you the devil in the next. He either doesn't mean anything he says -- ever -- or he is seriously imbalanced. I don't know which one is true.

(16,856 posts)I wish we could make it illegal for media to profit from elections. That is the real root of the problem of why we have so much corruption in government. The politicians have to beg for money just so they can give it to media advertisers. It wouldn't matter how much who gave to whom if profiting from elections was abolished. Seems we've been tackling that problem the wrong way all along.

(5,169 posts)The message MUST be controlled by a small number of super-intelligent elites drawing a government paycheck, not by unaccountable private sector entities.

(5,169 posts)Would government expropriation and control of all significant forms of modern media (including Democratic Underground and other online forums) offer the public a more balanced view?
LuvNewcastle
(16,856 posts)nationalized. I don't think it would hurt a thing for them to be required to run a limited amount of free ads during election season, however. Maybe there should be restrictions for debates as well. There's plenty of other people buying ad space for media companies. They can be required to perform a little public service without being appropriated by the government.

(45,528 posts)I don't think he believes anything he says ever. He's a total opportunist and possibly has some mental illness.

(16,856 posts)I just don't understand people like that. You'd have to be rather dull to go through life that way. Anybody with any wits about them wouldn't be able to live with themselves.

Is the HRC using this or planning to use this? I'm thinking that the MSM should play the hell out of this and then ask Trump what could possibly have changed to make her such a "horribly" (nasty) woman?
