Remembering Bob Dylan's 1975 Tour Stop At The University Of Vermont

Roger McGuinn, Joni Mitchell, Richi Havens, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan perform the finale of the The Rolling Thunder Revue, a tour headed by Dylan, in December 1975. The tour had come through Vermont a month earlier.

Last week Bob Dylan was awarded the Noble Prize for Literature, becoming the first American since Toni Morrison to receive that honor. During his five decades of making music, he played countless shows, and on one of his most famous tours, he came through Vermont.

In 1975, during his Rolling Thunder Revue tour, Dylan and his band played a show at Patrick Gymnasium, on the University of Vermont campus in Burlington.

Mark Stoler, professor emeritus of history at the University of Vermont, went to the show, and he spoke with VPR about the show and the legacy of Bob Dylan.

Joan Baez brought him onstage to sing a few songs during her concert at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium. Lots of hisses and boos from the audience around us.

A friend got me his Freewheelin' album shortly after for my birthday. He shot to fame so fast.
