Tennessee attorney details abuse by Trump ‘trolls’

WASHINGTON — A Middle Tennessee attorney and writer who considered mounting an independent campaign for president says he and his family have been subjected to “an unending torrent of abuse” by “alt-right trolls” backing Republican nominee Donald Trump. In an article published Friday on the National Review’s website, David French writes that members of the alt-right movement have bombarded him and his wife with pornographic images and other abuse. French said the abuse has included racial slurs targeting his young, adopted African-American daughter, images of her face superimposed onto photos of slaves, and a doctored photo showing the then-7-year-old girl inside a gas chamber with a smiling Trump in a Nazi uniform preparing to press a button and kill her.

One Trump fan, a veteran, sent French’s wife, Nancy, an email informing her “that he knew the business end of a gun and told her directly that she should shut her mouth or he’d take action,” the attorney wrote. “I share my family’s story not because we are unique or because our experience is all that extraordinary, but rather because it is depressingly, disturbingly ordinary this campaign season,” French wrote. “The formula is simple: Criticize Trump — especially his connection to the alt-right — and the backlash will come.” French, who lives in Columbia, Tenn., and is a staff writer for National Review, could not be reached for comment.

He was floated as a possible independent contender for president over the summer by conservatives looking for a thirdparty candidate who could give voters an alternative to Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. French, an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, toyed with the idea but announced in June — “after days of prayer, reflection and serious study of the possibilities” — that he would not enter the race.

In the National Review article, headlined “The Price I’ve Paid for Opposing Donald Trump,” French says the harassment directed at his family started a year ago after he called out Trump ally Ann Coulter for “aping the white-nationalist language and rhetoric of the so-called alt-right.” The abuse continued, he said, after the mainstream press reported that he had met with Bill Kristol, the Weekly Standard editor and leader of the “Never Trump” movement, about possibly mounting an independent bid for the White House.

Look I don't think it is okay for ANYBODY to be treated in this manner.

But it hard to feel sympathy for somebody who had no problem supporting the beta version of Trump, but then acts terrified to see who supports Sarah Palin 2.0.

In many ways Nancy French was instrumental in helping Sarah Palin expand her brand and fire up the very same group of right wing nutjobs who are currently suggesting that she be burned at the stake.

Nancy French helped to put the words in Palin's mouth that her knuckle dragging fans found so inspiring, and even helped her wayward daughter attempt to repair her reputation by writing a book accusing Levi Johnston of rape.

I wonder if she ever lost any sleep at the notion of his face "twisting up in shock" at reading those words?

You know there is a passage from a widely discredited book that I once read, I think it went a little something like this:

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

Nancy French lived with the Palin clan, she also was the ghostwriter of Bristol Palin's hateful blog. The Palin klan are the most hateful of the human species. The hate financed their lifestyle for years and Nancy French was the marketing director.

He thought it was funny, or deserved, when it happened to "social justice warriors." SJWs are anyone on the left the rabid right doesn't like and feels they deserve whatever "vicious" treatment they receive. But hey, "sad puppies" won! /snark

<snip>

The response to the social-justice Left in the gaming world was “Gamergate,” an online movement that (and this is an understatement) “punched back twice as hard” against the left-dominated gaming media. The resulting online battles were extraordinarily vicious, with claims and counterclaims of online bullying, “doxing” (exposure of personally identifying information on the web), and general internet hand-to-hand combat.

In science fiction, the response was “Sad Puppies,” a movement led by conservative author Larry Correia. Why Sad Puppies? Because “boring message fiction is the leading cause of Puppy Related Sadness.” Correia and his Sad Puppies targeted the Hugo Awards, prestigious writing awards voted on by members of “Worldcon,” the World Science Fiction Convention. Correia had known that the social-justice Left had campaigned against him previously, so he countered with his own campaign — assisted by leading conservative and libertarian authors. In 2014, they succeeded in getting a number of nominations. The tolerant Left’s response was predictable.

Every bully ever, screams "I'm a victim!!!!!1111" the second their target fights back or they're subjected to the same abuse they've cheered on or meted out to others.

presidency. French and his Palin-ventriloquist wife would have turned a blind eye to the vile abuse the same people constantly direct toward the Clintons and the Obamas, of which he is getting only a small taste now. If his campaign had caught on, he would have been standing in front of crowds of these same deplorables, churning them up at every campaign stop. Nobody deserves this, but maybe it is the only way people like David French will come to care about the consequences and publicly condemn it. I'm glad he has said something to expose it.
